Is the only difference between Valkyrie and Goldwing waterpump the front cover? they look like they mount up the same. Mine failed yesterday and I am not sure if my spare is any good. Just wondering if anybody has tried a Goldwing pump with a Valkyrie front cover? Goldwing pumps seem to be less money.

I don't know,  but have you used any of the parts fishes to see if they have the same part numbers?

Both come as part of an assembly, so I guess you can't compare part numbers for pump alone.

'99 Valk standard (#1 comes as an assembly, pump included):

'99 GL1500AA GOLD WING  (#1 also an assembly)

The impeller half of the pump looks the same but not having a Goldwing pump in my hand, it is hard to tell.

Just looking at the diagrams, the shaft going into the engine looks longer on the goldwing, and the outside housing on the goldwing pump also looks larger.

Also the Goldwing pump looks like the o-ring groove is in the cover instead of the pump housing and the impeller also looks different. So far my spare is working fine, it only had 20,000 miles on it but has been sitting dry for a long time.

Last time I thought the pump was licking cost me a hundred plus for a new pump and 50 cents for the C clamp to fix the leak.

Double check the top gooseneck.

I checked all that before I changed the pump. I have a lift table so it easy checking everything first. So far leak free !

Not interchangeable GW and Valk have different diameter bodies (through the front cover). Used GW crank cases on a supercharged Valk I lunched. The pump and front cover had to be salvaged from the Valk motor.
