Just came back from a 10 day ride and lost a front wheel bearing around Franklin NC. We made it to Cherokee on a Sunday afternoon, found a shop on Monday who'd let me swap out the failed part ( I had the front bearing set with me ) and while there, I discovered the clutch master cylinder seeping from the sight glass. That's a new one. It's amazing with a scrunched up a blue shop towel and a rubber band can do to get me home. Has anyone ever experienced this particular problem before?

There was even a guy with a business where he put in new sight glasses...

Anywho... better look around... clutch master cylinders are "no longer available" for Valkyries.
I got a pretty good ebay one... I wonder if VTX ones, or other Honda ones, would work? The
little electrical connection would have to match up somehow...

I seem to remember reading that the sight glass assembly is no more than the window, an O-ring and a "flat spring clip" type retainer. If so, you may be able to tighten it up by seating the clip, or even replacing the o-ring without too much trouble.

I just ordered a pair of those just in case, plus they are cloudy. Looks like they just press in and out. Be careful not to damage the body prying the old ones out

That is a good find. I measured my site glass. Looks to be the 18mm version. Glad to know that site glass is a replaceable part.

I bought and replaced two in 2019.

Honda parts direct is still showing new ones available:

Hey Mike, do you have a link to that $3 part.  It didn't come up in my search.

Maybe you don't use Google for a search engine?... anywho... do these nasty ebay
links work? Yes! You'll have to search around through these to make sure you get the right
size... whatever that is...

I never knew the sight glass was replaceable until just recently when I got too close to one with a buffing wheel. I replaced both as they were yellowed with age anyway.

How did you get it out and in? I didn't know the sight glasses were replaceable until maybe last year. I had a different bike that had sight glasses that I couldn't see the fluid in. They were bad. I just want to know how to do if I buy another old bike. My Valkyrie has surprising clear sight glasses.

I haven't done it but if I did, I would use a C clamp and two sockets, one just smaller than the sight glass to push it out, and one on the opposite side, larger than the sight glass to push it into.
