While my Valk will never be as cool as John's bike(s), I'm intrigued by the choke modification. My question isn't really about the mod on the engine but more about the elimination of the choke lever on the handlebar controls. I know if I split the left switch housing, I can remove the lever and cable, but there would likely be a gap between the housing and bar. I looked up a couple other switch housings from bikes without the lever and none appeared to have the same wiring. The VTX switch looks similar, and Partzilla shows an "adapter" ring that looks like it would go in the same place the choke lever would be. Could it really be that easy? Just buy this plastic ring and it would fit the Valk switch housing like it was meant for it?  https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/17962-MR1-000?ref=ab605f054b04bf6ed72d2ebe1ce82779c04855ae

I'm not asking John directly, because his two-wheeled Valk had modified HD controls rather than Honda ones.

Oil Burner, I've moved all that over to my trike now but went back to OEM controls. To take up that space I just left the choke lever in place even though not in use. I've debated about using my Dremel to cut off the protruding knob so all that you see is the black ring. However, since I have my cruise control pad mounted directly over it...it's not visible anyway when I lift the knob all the way up. Plus, for those that aren't aware of my choke mod and complain about the stiffness of the OEM style, I'll just show them the knob and tell them "see, mine works real easy, something must be wrong with yours." With no cable attached it really works smooth. After a couple ooos and aaahs, I show them the real McCoy. Reactions differ!  Grin

Well played, John.   2funny

I guess I could just Dremel the lever off, but I have no cruise control switch to hide it if it doesn't clean up well. That's why I was wondering about that spacer; like if it fits right where the choke lever goes now. I may just order one next time I need other stuff to see how/if it would fit the Valk's switch housing.

I’ve been trying to figure out something to do with the old lever. Modify it as a switch or starter kill switch (theft protection) or something secret. Any thoughts?

Get one of those small sticky labels for it that says Danger-eject in red.

It would be a nice conversation piece.   Cool       (and involve minimal work)    Grin

I have two '99 Interstates; one the choke stays on, the other you have to hold it on (or use vice grips) (after a complete desmog, but both got desmogged at the same time).
