Embarrassed it took us this long, we're the 21st state now with permitless carry (Too many rules attached to it to call it Constitutional Carry.)

Yesterday we also passed a law making the entire state of Texas a 2nd amendment sanctuary state, and a (Yet to be tested in court) law that a suppressor made entirely in Texas never to leave Texas stamped Made In Texas is immune from interstate commerce, and thus does not fall under federal laws.

We'll see how that one goes.

Oh, and we also passed some laws that punish any large municipality that "defunds the police."

Sorry for jumping off thread topic,

One state I don't mind making donations too.

Finally got my company to approve a donation match to save the Battleship Texas, the last remaining WWI Dreadnought...

Wish I would have taken the time to visit at the last GOTF I attended years ago...

There's plenty of WWII battlewagons to go visit - the closest to you is probably Alabama, in Mobile.

Even before unlicensed carry became legalized in The Republic, by the latest count there are 1,626,242 licensed carriers in Texas.... And we have Castle Doctrine. And it's legal to shoot someone fleeing from a theft if they have your property and you think that's the only way to recover your property.....

...it's nice to see Texas finally catching up with lesser states like Arizona and the 19 other states that beat Texas to the legal permitless carry line in this regard... Wink

Lesser states like Texas are just now catching up to greater states like Alaska.  Wink (Everything is greater and bigger in AK)

When Alaska became a State, I heard the governor of Texas was whining about dropping to number 2 in size.  The governor of Alaska told him to suck it up or we'll split Alaska in half and you'll be number 3.   Smiley

I have a sense of humor about it. I was born in Texas and spent 4 of my favorite years in Alaska.

I think Sarah Palin being on the ticket, was the only reason the Repubs did as good as they did that election.

From '62 to '66 in Anchorage (Gov't Hill/ Elmendorf AFB). I was a kid having fun playing in the snow-skating, sleding, skiing etc.

I was there when the Good Friday Quake hit.

We lived on Government Hill for a few months in ‘61, then moved to apartments on 6th Ave. by the cemetery. It was a great place to grow up.  cooldude

There's 8 left.  The Texas was the only one of them to serve in both WW I and WW II.  It also participated in the D Day invasion.  We were on the last group to tour the ship before they shut it down for renovation.

I am out numbered on this. I have mixed emotions on it. I feel if wanting to carry in Texas you have the chance to test and carry if you pass. I think those that wanted too did that. I started carrying back in 1996, class was 16 hours and then shoot. If you pass the shooting then you are given the chance to pass the written. It was not easy, class room was very educational. The law was taught and many examples were given, a real eye opener. They have cut the class to 8 hours total, depends on the teacher if it educational or not. The state has changed some laws about printing. Printing was a big deal, people would call 911 if they saw it printing in Wal-Mart. If you reached up to the top shelf for a gar of jam and exposed any part of the weapon people called 911. The court rooms were full of crap like that. They eased the law and said if you are permitted you can carry open and that stopped all the calls. Was it a money making scam, if you had a worthless class teacher, yes. I took it in Colorado back in 2013 what a joke, that was a money making scam by the state. I learned more at the hunters course. I did not stay long, came back home to Tx. I see and know too many that have no idea how to handle a weapon, and they will carry. We shall see how it goes, the bad guys are already carrying. Constitutional carry is a small concern compared to the border problem.
