I'm looking into converting to supervalk and have a few questions after taking a look at what I'll need to do.
1) Taillight: I found this taillight that's listed on Amazon in another post. https://www.amazon.com/Radiantz-Tail-Light-Honda-Shadow-Valkyrie-VTX/dp/B000TK8LY8 It looks like it has a round plug that simply plugs into something that is presumably already there. Will I find that type of connector under my fender? Will I need to get some kind of wiring harness in addition to the taillight assembly?

2) Seat: The seat has a flange in the rear that slips into the trunk bracket before the front snaps into the lock on the front. Without the trunk, there's nothing for the flange to go into. Do I need to get a new seat as well?

3) Radio: The wiring for the radio antenna looks like it runs along the rear fender into who knows where. Who knows where that runs to, and what will need to be removed to disassemble that? I'd like to just remove the radio, but I think it's tied to the display in the front fairing. If I remove the radio, will I just have a dead LCD display?

4) Trunk Lights: What's the best method for wiring the trunk lights so that they work when the trunk is on?

It's plugged into the socket for the tail light's 1157 bulb.

So that's just a standard bulb to LED conversion? Since mine just has a black plastic plate where the light would go, I need something different. A whole taillight assembly?

The I/S doesn't come with a tail light on the rear fender like a Standard/Tourer. It does though use the same fender as a Standard/Tourer and the *plastic plate* covers the empty cavity where the tail light would have been.

Yeah, you'll have to provide your own tail light assembly.

[edit] and the necessary wiring.

When I did mine I spliced into the tail/brakelight wiring that was already there.
And yes you will need another seat.

I’ve had 2 of those rear lights. They are the brightest and best taillight you can get. Why 2? Sold one Valk and had to FIX the new one.

I am in the process of doing mine right now. As was pointed out above you will need to replace the wiring harness since the Interstate harness does not have the brake light wires since they are in the trunk. Here is what I ordered for my conversion based on the suggestions elsewhere on the Tech board.

SUB-HARNESS, RR
SUB-HARNESS, RR (lights side)
TAILLIGHT ASSY
RUBBER, TAILLIGHT CUSHION

Great pictures and wiring diagram above. That is going to help me as well.

Thanks for the links. I found the same brake light assembly from the site you provided a link for, but they seem to be out of stock. I purchased one off eBay that includes the rubber cup thing. Hoping that it looks good when I get it.

It looks like the SUB-HARNESS, RR (lights side) is the sub-harness B in the image above from Ronw. Is the other sub-harness the 5 wire sub-harness A? I don't know what it is going to look like when I start digging into it, but I was imagining that I would just use the connections that go to the trunk brake light and wire them to the fender brake light. Is that not possible without the harness, or is it just much easier with the harness?

Bighead's method is the faster and more inexpensive option. I'm approaching it from the standpoint of the owner of a Tourer because its tail light has it's own dedicated factory wiring and it has to be that way. The area under the fender is an exposed area and factory plugs are a more guaranteed waterproof system. So forth.

The Interstate's wiring (No. 9) can indeed be used to power a Standard/Tourer's taillight.

Correct. The other harness is the 5 wire sub-harness A. You end up using the same connections that your old wire harness used. The colors and wires match up exactly except for one extra wire. And per the diagram above, I just tied that in with the green/red wire that goes to the interstate trunk connector.
