I need a little leather care education. I have recently acquired a used Corbin Dual Tour seat that could use a little love. I have a three part leather care "system" that came with a leather furniture purchase, wondering if that would be safe to use? I've heard of some using a good skin lotion, some using oil, all kinds of home remedies. The seat appears dry, if that makes any sense. Looking for some advice.
Jess I remember the beautiful condition of the leather received from you, what did you use? Mink oil? I don't want to try the wrong thing or make it slippery.

Yes, Mink Oil, applied with fingers only.  Few days to soak in and dry, and shoe brush buff.  You can use a blow drier to speed things up, not too much heat.

If the color is faded (or even if it isn't), first use some Kiwi black shoe polish, sparingly.  Use cold water soaked and wrung out surgical cotton to apply (small circles, same as spit shined boots).  Toothbrush the seams.  Buff out with clean wet, wrung out cotton (not a shoe brush).

The polish can make it slippery, but the oil will take away the slippery (it also takes away some of the shine, oh well).  Now you are also fully waterproof.

Maybe not your best pants for a few rides.

I've always heard this stuff is good, but no experience.

I use this museum quality wax on firearms (oil the inside, wax the outside and wood), knives and other fine metals, but it is also supposed to be good on finished leather.  Just amazing on blued steel.

Jess ren-wax is good on anything. Been using it for years on my knife collection. It will not harm any material known to man.

I've used this for many years on my Corbin. Based on beeswax, it conditions and seals the seams, keeping the wet out when riding in the rain...I treat the seat several times a year with it.

This seat is almost 20 years old and has almost 200,000 km riding on it...aside from one small separation at the seam on the Right side where the piping ends and where my  leg has brushed over while mounting and dismounting over the years, it's still in fantastic shape. Still supple, with no cracking or fading at all.

It was mostly dirty and dry, cleaned up real nice. Corbin was always love/hate for me, hope I can learn to "like" it. I was an Ultimate guy on the 1500.

Thank you for the info. and links  cooldude
