Yes a good story. I especially like the part where six strangers who witnessed the crash were out helping to find the dog. Or at least that is the way I read it.

Think of it this way. Dog loses job in traumatic accident. Unscathed, dog finds new job in one day. Dog has more initiative than most humans. Dog does not file for whiplash, low back injury, post-traumatic stress, loss of consortium, welfare, unemployment, food stamps, ebc card, section 8 housing. Dog does not riot, loot, burn, or claim humans are dog racists. You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din.

In this dog's breed the instinct to herd come naturally. They can't help it.
We had a border collie while in Wy. She had a lot of natural instinct to heard. While out for a walk/run close by town, she tried herding antelope several times. Rounded them up and put them in a group before they decided to leave the area. She couldn't stay with them when they left. She came back with the look of "see what I did". I tired to discourage this type of behavior, but wasn't too successful.

My only experience with Border Collies is they can bark 23 hours a day and never get tired of it.

Border Collies are without a doubt the smartest dogs I’ve ever been around. I never noticed them barking that much.

This is Emma, one of my great granddaughters, giving one of their dogs a belly rub. I forget the dog's name but it's a real softie. Emma was sitting on the floor and the dog comes over and lays across her lap, Emma said she'll do that every time if you're not watching. The dog just lays her head back, eyes closed, and just moans a little while getting the rub. It's a Great Pyrenees mix and a real sweetheart. I was sitting watching TV while visiting my daughter and this one came up and simply sat down on my feet then laid her head on my knee. If I didn't respond, she simply stuck her nose under my hand to lift it up...so subtle. This all took place at my granddaughter's place, they also have a Great Dane/Mastiff mix. What a horse...she's the size of a Shetland pony and just as big a softie as the white one. The other g-granddaughter Kinlee, Emma's younger sister, will just point a finger at all the dogs and tell them to shut up and lay down. Stands there with a hand on her hip and they all do as told but not without appropriate moaning and groaning. It's a riot to watch. Another young pup they have was in the yard and got real aggressive when I rode up , barking and sniffing all around the trike. Every time I'd move he would get all excited again, so I waited until he got near my Wolo air horn while sniffing at my leg and pulling on my pant leg. I then hit the horn button...he yelped, took off on a dead run w/tail between his legs, didn't see him for a couple hours.

I had this video go viral last summer, 1.8 million views on Facebook. The local NBC affiliate picked it and ran it as an end piece on the news, then posted it up on their Facebook page. Crazy to see how fast it spread around the world in just a matter of days. Bella, 9 year old English Cream Golden Retriever https://fb.watch/6lQU4QLbfK/

I have a boarder collie and yes they are very smart. I raised him, he is now 13 and can not hear, getting slow and sleeps a lot. I used him on cattle, I horse back, he was as good as two other riders. We put 5 years together working cattle and then we retired together. I still build fence and cut trees and brush, he goes along but heads to the house after awhile but is always in sight of me. I taught him hand and arm signals from a pup so we do communicate,. I always take my dark glasses off when I look at him eye to eye. The day will come when he passes but we have had a great relationship. He will not be replaced.
