I need a new rain jacket.  There are several motorcycle dealerships near Athens but I was wondering if I might be able to find one for sale at InZane.

I will be there tomorrow.

Yes, but it's a girl's small.   Grin

Hard to beat one of these (sets): (my go-to gear site)

You can get nicer stuff if you order separate jacket and pants, but the price about doubles. If you don't need pants, go jacket alone.

Zippers on the pants bottoms is much better than hopping around forcing your boots through tight elastic and falling down in the mud. (which I have done and seen others do)

The idea, is to get raingear before a trip.   Grin

And put the bag in a trash bag so clothes don't get soaked

3-4 tall kitchen bags come in very handy on all trips.  Stinking clothes and wet stuff.

Something guys who may ride in cold weather should remember is to buy a rainsuit large enough to go over the most clothes they might ever wear.  Even though it flops around a lot if you wear it with no gear at all.  I've departed on wet and hot trip days with only the rainpants on with my skivvies because that stuff is HOT in warm weather (with a pair of jeans).

And a rainsuit (which never leaves the bike) can be a cold suit when necessary.

I've used one of these for 4 years now and it keeps me dry and serves as a great windbreak on those frosty days.

Thanks Ramie,  I do like the Nelson Rigg look.

However, I did have breakfast next to a Tractor Supply this AM and when there and got a jacket.  We shall see.

Hopefully, I have invoked Murphy's Law such that since I am not prepared I won't get rained on.

I've ridden a fair amount in the rain...both locally and on longer tours. We invested in decent rain gear (separate jacket and pants ) quite a few years ago, and it's still holding up well. The more money you have invested in rain gear, the less likely you'll need it...which is sorta par for the course with these sorts of things and which, in the long term, is not such a bad thing. Conversely, the reverse would probably be true too...buy cheap rain gear and you'll likely need to use it all the time. That's just the way things work  Roll Eyes

In my mind, the keys are:
Jacket...a bit heavier rather than real light material, for a bit of "structure", but still able to compress into a smaller carrying bag for trips; sealed zipper closures  with a velcro overlap; full neck closure; adjustable straps on wrists and waist... to keep it from blowing in the wind; reflective strips  (mine is Black with White strips); large enough to fit over riding jacket.

Pants...elastic leg openings with zipper/strap; "stirrup"straps to go over boots to keep legs from riding up: heat resistant material on inner lower leg areas that may contact pipes; pay special attention to fit, since too tight when sitting for longer periods of  time is no fun, or a rip in the a** and wet butt is no fun either
