Me and my Valk at Freedom Rock

« on: June 18, 2021, 08:11:46 PM »

Thought maybe, just maybe I could make it home in a day.

Can't even get out of Indiana.

My goal was to find a simple route to miss Indianapolis as there is major construction there as I found out on my way over to Athens.

Thought I found a fairly simple route. Got into it and the idea was crushed by more construction, road closures. detours, and all augmented with many road signs that lended themselves to multiple interpretations. Which I seemed to consistently misinterpret.

One sign said "Keep Left" with a right turn arrow next to it. A detour sign on Hwy 28 that said to turn left which was a detour sign they put over the left turn lane sign. The detour went straght.

Hour and a half in Dayton to let the storms pass was the first sign of the day to come.

As I post this I am still in Indiana just short of the Illinois border.

I know I should just use my smart phone with the cool apps. But I don't have one. Doing this kinda old school.

I think Athens permanently warped my sense of direction. My first hour in Athens I was going down main street, the one way street and EVERYONE was going the wrong way. The only time I wasn't lost was in my hotel room.

It continues to be quite the adventure.

The future rule is now "Don't let Mike lead, we'll never return"

Yet despite all that, and I'm sure the adventure will continue tomorrow, probably somewhere in Arkansas the way things are going, Inzane was a wonderful time.

Kudos to the crew who put these together. What a great job and love you guys put into it is amazing and appreciated.

I was so impressed with Amy and all the effort she put into it. Just a lovely and fun person. She needs to get rid of the shoes though. My ankles hurt everytime I saw them shoes.

The generosity of the club in general was, and is, something to behold. Humbled to be a part of such a loving and caring group.

With so many attending it is almost inevitable that there will be an accident of some kind.
Always a shocker to hear about such things. Glad Kali made the "Got out alive" club.
Prayers and thoughts for the couple who went down as well. Not confident as to their names and I don't want to post a wrong name but I pray for the best for them.

Will be anxiously waiting for the announcement for next year's event. It would be good to have it somewhere I am very familiar with so I won't get lost so much.

I'll probably be posting from Detroit tomorrow.

Thanks again guys, great job.

Geez, as the newest state rep, you may need to hone your directional skills.
Thanks, BTW, for stepping up to the rep position!!
