i just got off the phone with her brother.  He said she is getting worse.  Her brain activity is declining.  It was minimal before and he said now it is now even less.  We will update as we know more, but it does not look good at all.

Terrible thing to have happen , but wonderful to see the compassionate response of all the VRCC community. My wife Jonni and I were sitting right behind the table that Rams was sitting at and observed a true human being in action ! He had just plopped down several hundred dollars for 50/50 tickets (which , had he won, was going to but pies for the benefit auction) and was in the process of separating them when it was announced about the accident . When asked if someone could drive the husband to Columbus , Rams didn't even bat an eye , he immediately threw down his tickets and said "I'll go" ! What a blessing to have a man like that in our group !

From Motomama:

Mary Jo Humphrey, the lady injured in the accident while attending Inzane has officially been declared brain dead.  The family is looking in to donating her organs before life support is disconnected.  Please pray for her husband, Joe, and the entire Humphrey family.

What the heck happened?!!!

I heard Joe and Mary Jo were traveling at speed (not speeding) when Joe missed a shift, looked down at his foot and when he looked back up was heading off the road.  The bike went into a ditch and flipped over.  Surprisingly little damage to the bike.  What a horrible situation.  Joe and family are doing the right thing with the organ donation.

I listened as Joe told this to folks at GZ, then to myself on the trip to OSU hospital and to the Docs  and nurses several times.   This is a real tragedy that could happen to any of us at any time.   The Neuro Nurse told us there wasn't a mark or bruise on her (with the exception of slightly scuffed knees).   They were both wearing helmets, she apparently landed on her head.   There was grass and debris on her helmet.   Her heart did stop at some point prior to getting to the hospital but, compressions and artificial respirations helped get the heart restarted and her alive/breathing.   Joe's actions helped keep her alive at the accident site.   She was simply too badly injured to save her, she was called home.   May she rest in peace.   Lots more details but, this isn't something I care to relive.    He is 74, Mary Jo was 72, they were married 56 years.    You can only imagine the sadness and grief in that ICU room.    Cry

Found on Facebook:

Joseph Humphrey (Pic from 2019)

Mary Jo Humphrey (Pic from 2014)

And since we often recognize each other more by our bikes than the riders, here's his Valk (And what he currently has as his profile picture on FB) from 2020:
