The new spots came today.  WOW, are they the cats meow!!!!!  (are we allowed to say that in here? lol)  ok they are halogens and only 25 W but way brighter than the 55W sealed beams I had before and a whole lot sexier.  Its a slow process getting the wires all tied back in place especially when youre down a thumb, but Im not able to ride yet, so I have time.  These are cool lights though

Funy you should ask.....Ive had the bike 8years and the Cobra bar was on it when I got it.  When I had the bike about a year the dang spots stopped working and it turned out to be that switch.  I lubed it and everything came back to life.  Worked great until today...when I hooked up the new spots they didnt come on.......it was the switch again.  I cleaned it, lubed it and functioned it a hundred times and now she works perfect again

The lights look great.
Who makes them and where did you get them?
I would like to put them on my Cobra light bar also.

Great looking lamps.  Do they use the same sealed bulb like the orig. cobra or do they use the H1,H3 type bulbs?

I think they are halogens....it says "H-3" on the bulb....they are brighter than my 55W sealed beams and these are only 25W

No problem Marty but some of these guys are gonna hate you for it......LMAO They look even better from the front, now even more are going to want a set.  The one thing about these lights is I may have a problem getting them aimed low enough.  Im already thinking about modifying the little bases so they are canted forward.  As of now they hit exactly where the headlights hit at their lowest adjustment.....after a night ride Ill see, but I used to have the Cobras hitting lower and to the sides............

CJ, those appear to have replaceable H3 bulbs.  They can be a pain to find in 25 or 35 watts but you can find them all day long in 55 watt at any auto parts store or Wally World.  That's the power the car fog/spotlights use.  I'm gonna have to rethink not ordering them.   cooldude

Hey Chris,

Nice lights, I just spoke with a tech guy at Cobra about these lights. He couldn't answer my question, maybe you can. Is the light housing steel, stainless, aluiminum or plastic? Cobra doesn't manufacture these lights so the guy didn't know?

Thanks,
Redline  Cool

The housing is steel, chrome and the bezel is steel, chrome, very nice fit and finish, the glass inside looks much like the stock headlight with the boxy lines.

Brown showed up again today.  Cobra master cylinder covers, hiway pegs.....the new Longhorn style with VERY COOL locking/adjustment teeth worked into the mount so you dont have to tighten the buggars 1/16 " before stripping to make they stay put.  And the new flame grips.  I cant wait to ride now.............few more parts

Oh, this comes with a safety alert for all of you that have never had your handlebars off.  I took my bars off today and discovered the source (I think) of one of the strange noises up front.  One riser was so loose it could wiggle ....I think once I take the tank off to run the new throttle cables I should be able to get a socket under there and tighten the riser.  loose risers are NOT GOOD!!!! Check them!

When I bought my '99 back in Oct it came with these Cobra lights that didn't work.  I had some bad connection/corrosion problems.  Once I got that fixed one light still didn't work, turned out to be a bad bulb. It had Harley lights on it with the repalceble bulbs so I'm thinking, GREAT, this is going to cost me!!  But, to my amazment, it was only like $6 for the bulb.

Unfortunatly when the parts guy, who was really amazed at the Valk, took the bulb out of the package and by looking at it put his dirty fingers all over it!! Which what I understand is something your NOT supposed to do. Sure enough I used the lights one time and now that same one isn't working again!!

When I get another one I'll make sure it's stil in the sealed package!

Hey tx....I know some HD riders that dont run driving lights all the time because the charging system cant take it.  Valkyrie charging system CAN take it......IMHO these lights are more to BE SEEN than to help you see in thedark.  They work well during the day as well as night...........you had said you only used it once.........I just thought that I would add my .02 since I cant ride

Went for my first night ride with these spots last night.  They put out as much light as the head light.  I can see the road now.  Only one car flashed me for high beams so I think they are about right.  I love them and at 25W.  I hear the only place to find the bulbs is at a bike shop though, oh well.....hopefully they will last awhile

Believe if you  touch the glass on Halogen bulbs you need to clean them with alcohol and that should prevent early failure.

Well...I can only hope that the tech that assembled these had his gloves on.  you can touch the outer glass, just not the actual bulb.....same with the headlight....never handle with bare hands unless you are SURE you are not touching the glass

My local Fleet Farm has 100 watt bulbs for auto apps. that work in those lights. I do notice they get hotter and do not seem to last as long
