Hey Guys:
I am  installing a new driveshaft and having trouble seating it into the u-joint.  It goes in far enough to just barely engage the 4 mounting bolts in the flange, but stops about 3/4" shy of flush.

Any secrets or techniques I can try?

Try to hold the swing arm as close to 'normal position' as possible (don't let it hang down)...  They can be a dog, but all of a sudden, they pop right in...

Sit directly behind the bike.  With the drive shaft secure in the pumkin look down the tube and move the swing arm until you see the ujoint lined up...(a flashlight  might be required at first) this is just to know at which angle the swing arm needs to be at.  Now slide her in and move the swing arm up and down a tad if need be.....if still stubborn, you can try putting the driven flange piece in the hub so you can spin the thing as it tries to go in

Eureka!  Thanks guys, that was the magic.  I lifted the swingarm up and down several times and it slid home like it should.  Appreciate the help!

If you have the swingarm unsupported it will cause damage to the universal joint if the universal is allowed to become the support for the swingarm.

It damages the bearing cups ends and seals.

Always support the swing arm when the shocks are unattached.
