I drove a new Bronco today with the V6, what a great ride it felt like a car. Lots of power with that twin turbo V6.
I’m glad it’s a 2 year wait to get one because I want one now, but I won’t wait that long to get one.
I had 5 or 6 of the original Broncos I will always love those little trucks.

I parked next to one at the grocery store a few weeks
ago. The lady driving it really liked it, way more than
what she had before... a Jeep... I don't remember what
kind... her Bronco was four wheel drive, and besides being
real shiny, looked like it was ready to roll...

The old ones were "little" ?

It looks like the rear view mirror is worthless with the top folded back.

Funny how your parents having one when you were growing up makes you want one now. Mine had a ‘79 Bronco and I felt like the coolest dude in the world when we pulled up anywhere.

I was close to putting in an order for one when they launched but just couldn’t live without a truck. I could squeeze a deer in the back of a Bronco but not a moose lol.  I’d likely never remove the doors or even take the top off, so I’d have been buying for nostalgia more than practicality.

Glad I bought a truck but dang the new Broncos are nice. If they had removable rear seats with washable truck liner in the back, I’d probably have one now.

I have had one on order since putting down the deposit last June. The last communication I had from Ford was last week that said due to commodity shortages of several of my options (hard top, lift kit and 35 inch tires) that I likely wont get it until sometime in 2022 but they will hold the pricing. FYI Beardo, my Badlands model has the wash out floor. LOL

I was following one on the road this week and from the rear, it looked pretty skinny to me.  It was stock and not jacked up looked like bone stock tires and nothing off road seemed pretty small to me, at least from the rear following it.

these vehicle shortages are troubling indeed.  Dave,  glad your dealer is going to stick behind your purchase price when it comes in 2022 LONG time from now.  If you have a trade in will they keep honoring the same price or have to renegotiate trade in value?

It was probably a Bronco Sport, which is based off the Escape, not the full sized Bronco. There are very very few actual Broncos on the road yet.

My dealer has always been fair, the Broncos and Raptors they sell at MSRP. MANY dealers have fees as much as $10K over sticker. I doubt my Raptor will be worth what they offered me for it last month, ($10K over what I paid for it 4 months ago) but I likely wont trade it in anyway. As this is taking much longer than anticipated my wifes lease will be up about then and I will likely put her in the Bronco. There are no Broncos around here yet that I am aware of and certainly none on dealer lots. Jack, your lucky to have been able to drive one, I haven't even seen one in person!

Dave you should call your dealer my dealer is very small in a small town. So I’m surprised that they already had one.
They can’t sell it for 6 months they will be adding a 2 inch lift and 35” tires.

WOW,  dealer offered you 10k over your purchase price for  your Raptor and you said NO?  WOW..  If dealer came up to my 38K purchase price my truck would be gone.   then again,  mine is 4 years old vs. yours 1 year old or so.   If the wife gets back by noon tomorrow with my truck I should run it up to a dealer and see what trade in is worth to them since NONE around new or used.   Before all this shortages existed,  I would say 30K is reasonable but now 33-35K is more realistic trade in.  One Toyota dealer has an empty lot where well over 100 new vehicles existed at one time 1 year ago.  My mom/pop chevy/buick dealership in my small town use to have 4-5 rows of vehicles,  now they are down to 13 not even 1/2 a row.

OK, that makes more sense. I heard that certain dealers were offered early builds that they could not sell for 6 months but they could let customers drive them to stimulate additional Bronco sales.

Well cookie, heres the thing. Since I no longer have the luxury of a company vehicle like I used to I purchased the Raptor this spring to fulfill my daily driver role. If I sell it there are pretty much just a few options.  I overpay for something else used since no new are available that isn't something I really want or I buy something new if I can find it that is not what I want. Either way puts me in a potential position to end up with something I will have purchased that after the market correction that is surely coming at some point that I will have overpaid for and will lose money on when I decide to get rid of it.

Weird times, I feel like sitting tight and resisting the urge to sell is in my best interest at this time. I feel bad for folks that have to make these large purchased right now (homes, vehicles, etc.) that may find themselves in a bad way later when the market crashes and they suddenly owe more on these things than they will be worth.

Ford dealer in Hartville, Ohio has one. Stopped by to take a look. Can't tell you how much $$ or how it rides. Dealership was closed. I may go down today to take a test drive. I was glad it was the 2 door model and red to boot. Nice looking rig. Nice to see Jeep getting some competition in the convertible SUV market. Bronco may very well be my retirement gift to myself in a few short years.

When I saw that Ford was going to start making deliveries of the Bronco. I wondered when you would be getting yours. Anxious to hear what you have to say. Especially after having owned a Wrangler recently.

I agree with this!!

I'm not interested in a Bronco, just not designed to do what I use a vehicle for but, if that's what ya want, I'd wait until Ford catches up with and/or exceeds demand.

I agree,  my daughter and fiancee just bought 2 months ago a used house.  Bigger than what they needed but IMO about 15 grand overpriced.  They liked the location and prime area to be in so they had to borrow some money (key word borrowed from us) to get approved for a loan for the house since they young and not much money.  They told me if they offered what the house was worth at say 10-15K less than asking price,  someone else would have bought the house and probably right.  I surely hope in the next 10 years or so they pay us back the money - LOL

AS far as my truck goes,  if dealer gives me 2K more trade in that what actually worth due to market conditions, and the new tundra is 2K more (from dealer invoice which I usually pay vs. full msrp) then I feel I break even vs. waiting for conditions to improve.

that is just plain nuts.  If mfgs. cannot even come close to making any, why bother at all?  The dealers who are charging even a penny more than full msrp outta be out of their franchise agreement as well with their mfg. and be outta business.

They are good trucks, but dont try to do any heavy off road work. The tie rods tend to snap like a twig when you go off road.  Next door neighbor had his out in the woods and he snapped his. Not really knocking truck just a heads up.

I have heard of this but in the majority of cases guys were running really big tires that put additional strain on the tie rod ends. Beefier ones are available if this is the stuff you want to do. I waited almost 2.5 years for my Badlands Sasquatch and I just couldn't get it set up the way I wanted from a comfort and entry and exit standpoint. I guess the best way to put it was my 30 year old self liked it but my 60 year old self not so much. I decided to part ways with it and a guy from California was thrilled to have it and he paid up for it.

I immediately ordered a 2023 Raptor Performance 37 package that is being built Feb 1. Probably be a better fit for this old guy. When buying a Ford Performance vehicle they offer a free driving school and we will go out to Utah later this summer to sharpen some high speed off roading skills so I am proficient in my Indiana desert running abilities. just be careful Dave and no major jumps in that new Raptor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVuSL6DgdkE

I will still stick with my tried and true old school 2021 tundra V8.  The all new 2022 on up tundras are all flashy/techy and near 7K price increase and although tad faster and more fuel efficient since having the twin turbo V6, are far less reliable and build quality far worse.
