pull this connector apart? I've tried lifting bits, squeezing bits, pulling bits. Grrrr

Is that the bank angle sensor?  If so, that is why I gave up on fixing my underseat latch, cable and key mechanism.  Couldn't get that thing apart to pull the center cover, and I sure don't want to break that baby!    tickedoff

Study it long enough to discover the locking, spring loaded ears. 

You almost always have to push down on something, then it comes apart.

No hammers, wire cutters or torches.   Grin

I think you slide a small blade screwdriver inside that little box looking part. That should unlock it

Take a good non-blurry picture of it, and look at it on
your computer, full screen. Then mash on what seems
like the right thing and kind of rock the two pieces
back and forth and see if it seems like it is coming apart.
I've had it apart without breaking it  Wink ...

 In addition to the above comments; some of those type connectors have a water tight seal that doesn't like to come apart.

I went to the connector on the other side. Pushed one of the little bits that push. It came apart in my hand. I can now access what I was after. 2funny
