If only. He probably promised his wife he'd list it for sale online. Didn't promise to actually sell it though.

If he gets anywhere near that, more power to him. Not likely, though.
I feel like, if nothing else, asking prices have gone up from a year or two ago. I was seeing ads for decent bikes in the ~3K region not too long ago. I see quite a few now almost double that on FB marketplace and craigslist. Whether any are actually selling at those prices, I don't know.
Good or not; I'm torn. Mine is worth less when prices are down, but I can pick up another a lot easier when prices are down. The converse is true when prices are up.

He’s dreaming and a little delusional. Showroom condition? Not hardly. But it’s his ad. They say there’s one born every minute.

What was that 98 Standard priced at while new on the showroom floor? Don't get me wrong, I hope he gets his asking price but, isn't that more than they were originally priced at?

That price is crazy and I'm trying to sell mine. There is nothing special about that bike, its a plain Jane.
I sure wish I could get that for mine though.

I paid $8,999 for mine brand new straight outta the crate... Wow! I won't say what I paid for my Interstate, a year and a half old with only 3000 km on the clock, excepet it was a whole whack more than that. Been more than worth every penny these last 20 years though. Question for those who purchased new or near new and still have their original Valk... would you sell it now for 12 grand? What is 20+ years of riding memories worth to you? I honestly would have a real hard time

Two years ago I wouldn't have, too much emotional attachment to it. Now that I've transitioned to riding an Interstate as my primary yes, yes I would. In fact planning on giving my Standard (The one I bought brand new) away to Kali once she settles somewhere... if she'll have it... P.S. If I wanted to be a REAL butt I'd mention how much I paid for my current Interstate...

Trolling....trolling....on the big lake....there ain't no fish here....nibble....nibble....twitch.... twitch....twang!....twang....A BITE!....reel....reel.....reeeeel................weeds...... Drag it on down to a high dollar auto auction (Mecum) and see what happens when it rolls onto the red carpet with a $12000 reserve on it. The auctioneer would drop that to half within 15 seconds, once he stopped laughing.

To answer the original question, I would say no. But people seem to have stopped giving them away as they were during the scamdemic. These bikes have always been a good deal and reasonably priced.

cycle pricing in general seems to have gone up a bit the past year or so. But 12K or over for a low mileage one is crazy. I paid 8K for my 2001 I/S about 9-10 years ago low miles like 24K on it is all, if that, hard to remember been awhile. I would want 5-6K to sell it and if could not get 5K will just keep it. Not much else out there under 5K I would want. Besides, wife says NO have 2 Valks and 2 scooters now.
Someday I would like to see my 98 tourer hit 100K around 83K now but as the wife says, you have 4 to choose from sort of hard to rack on the miles on just one. Lately, I just have been hoping on my 2003 suzuki burgman 650cc going places just seems easier to hope on and go plus being able to spread out my legs in front helps my bad hips yet still weighs 600lbs. and tall seat height but not as heavy as the Valks are.

I have my 2000 Interstate for sale. It has been 'super Valked' but I still have everything to put it back to original dress. It has 63, 600 (roughly) miles on it. I bought it in 08 with 34,000 miles on it. I have ridden it to Nova Scotia from VA and San Antonio, TX from VA. I bought a Gold Wing in 2010 and haven't ridden the Valk much at all since then. It has been stored inside, started and ridden around the block occasionally, and a few short rides to keep it road ready. I have the trunk and all hardware to put it back if need be, an Ultimate seat for a short feller, the original two up seat, and some extra items that go too. I am asking $5500 OBO. Or maybe interesting trades.......whatcha got ??
