Maggie Valley, NC

« on: July 11, 2021, 01:19:15 PM »

Departure was delayed due to Sandra's surprising me with breakfast.

Three egg omelets with spinach onion tomato mozzarella and a hint of garlic, rosemary home fries, thick cut local bacon, and parsley so I could have something to share with the dog… that’s right, the dog likes parsley.

Once I cleaned up the kitchen I prepared for blast off.

The BRP junction is just up the road from me. I passed it by on my way towards Cherokee.

Riding down the mountain towards Cherokee.

Rain clouds ahead.

Hwy 74 west near Bryson City.

I got a couple of miles into the Nantahala Gorge before the darkening sky ahead made me turn tail and run.

I was able to return home via the BRP with only a few sprinkles of rain hitting me

BRP tunnel

Down the mountain back into Maggie Valley. A few drops of rain just as I exited the BRP.

Bike safely tucked up in bed and I'm back in the house shed of bike gear.

As I walk up the stairs from the basement I can hear the rain drumming on the metal roof above me.

Rain in the trees by the creek.
