I don’t know what you are referring to Jess. I made around 700 HALO jumps and none were as you describe.

You mean none of them were in Indian Country?

I jumped at Gila Bend in AZ and at the air park between Phoenix and Tucson. Is that close enough to Indian Country?

Doesn't HALO mean that I you ran down the hallway in a big
airplane and dived out the open barn door in the back?

I static-line jumped a couple of times. The kind of thrill it
would be to dive out one of those big hatches like that
makes the hair stand up on my neck.

I think Jess' "Indian Country" = "under fire in enemy territory"...

-Mike

HALO just means one jumped at altitudes usually 10,000 or higher and freefell to a minimum opening altitude usually between 3,500 and 2,000 feet. I never parachuted into combat. I was supposed to but my part of the mission changed to air landing. Long story

The idea is to avoid enemy fire (or enemy knowledge of your presence) with the high altitude jump and low open, but into enemy or hostile territory (indian country) for some mission, like retrieving a downed pilot.

And that would be disrespectful to indigenous Americans.   Angry  I don't think we can tolerate that.

Yes I was a D license and AFF jumpmaster qualified. I truly miss it.

Very impressive, that's a lotta work to get that rating and license level! Just being nosy, how many total jumps did you have before you hung up your rig for good?

(The spousal unit and Kali are at the DZ right now, Wife is a B with coming up on 250 jumps and Kali's an A with just under 40, but she's grounded until she gets through Army boot camp...)

Carl, I agree with you.  But so long as woke/PC America tries to change every word, thought and deed into some kind of moral outrage, I intend to push back (and be politically incorrect) as often as possible.

Besides, Indians are from the subcontinent of Asia and American Indians aren't Indians at all, but Native Americans.  So our betters instruct us anyways.

I'm not so concerned with PC but with disrespect and inaccuracy.

All of us born in this country are native Americans.  Those whose blood traces back to the pre-European inhabitants are indigenous Americans although some are only partially so.

It's been a lot of years sine we had a war against territory held by indigenous Americans.  Perhaps a more accurate, although still somewhat disrespectful, term would be Nazi territory, Communist territory, or Asian territory.

Thanks. AFF course was tough. It was a zero tolerance for some things. One mistake could get you sent home. Like I said around 700 free falls (military and civilian combined) that doesn’t count a few hundred static line jumps with the AirForce.
