Not sure if you looked past the headlines or not, but there's more to it than that. You Yanks are allowed up here if you're fully vaccinated, yes.... but if you're coming up specifically  to attend a motorcycle gathering of any sort, you are also required to bring gifts for your Canadian hosts.... expensive ones... and lots of them

Actually I heard that you still need to isolate after crossing the border. How long, and how, I haven't heard yet, not working today or driving, listening to the news.

Would isolation in a Motel room and driving around be acceptable? I'm thinking 3 days minimum waiting for symptoms to show.

I didn’t hear anything like that but, given the opportunity, I trust the government’s ability to screw this up more than it needs to be.

It's only Canada.  I'm not sure it's worth the effort.  Evil (sorry Canucks, I couldn't resist)

Obvious sarcasm, and it's well received. cooldude
I say "obvious", because I've been to Troy MI plenty over the years with work as we have a distributor branch there. Nice folks in Troy, but I guarantee there wouldn't be too many (any?)  BC'ers that would move there from here   Evil
Still time to book yourself into Valhalla in lovely Grand Forks BC,  SH....I promise you, it'll be "worth the effort"  Wink

What was reported down here was that with validation of either Moderna, Pfizer, or J&J vaccines visitors could cross into Canada. Also need a negative Covid test no older than 72 hours. Also there is a Canadian app that you have to apply on for the crossing. We’ve got the vaccines. I’m going to have to check into the app thing and where to get the tests. No further quarantining or testing is needed (after Aug.9)

The only unknown right now is returning to the USA. So far they haven’t reciprocated the rules with Canada. (Surely they will ?) It would be kind of ironic that we have been bitching about Trudeau keeping us out, only to have him let us in and then Biden not let us come back.  Grin
Rob, I try to not read or listen to anything our (oops, I mean Ontario and Quebec's) government says, but since our annual Valhalla gathering wouldn't be the same without our American brothers and sisters, I have been keeping up to date with any news on this. The way I understand it is, that permanent resident Americans only, who have proof of being fully vaccinated with those approved vaccines, will be allowed to travel into Canada without further restrictions. Non-permanant residents of the US, or those from other countries travelling through the US or directly into Canada, will have those other restrictions.
Mind you, all these rules are coming from our (oops, there I go again messing up...sorry, I mean Ontario and Quebec's) government, and they haven't had a clue what they're doing over the past 6 years  Grin

So, don't sweat the small stuff... just come on up... and don't forget the gifts!!!  Wink

The gov website for Travel

https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid

The border app is ArriveCAN. I understand that for those without a smartphone (app) you can process online and print a copy off.

"Subject to limited exceptions, all travellers must use ArriveCAN (app or web portal) to submit their travel information. If they are eligible to enter Canada and meet specific criteria, fully vaccinated travellers will not have to quarantine upon arrival in Canada."

"All travellers, regardless of vaccination status, will still require a pre-entry COVID-19 molecular test result. However effective August 9, 2021, the Government of Canada is adjusting its post-arrival testing strategy for fully vaccinated travellers. Using a new border testing surveillance program at airports and land border crossings, fully vaccinated travellers will not need a post-arrival test unless they have been randomly selected to complete a Day 1 COVID-19 molecular test. There are no changes to the mandatory testing requirements for unvaccinated travellers."

This link is a little easier to understand, I read through most of it.

Also if you are coming into BC any time, it is worth checking out DriveBC, for road closures and the like.

Specially now with the fires.

They only offered me a bottle of water  tickedoff

I got a little card with the two vaccinations noted but friends from the Interior got nothing.  Not sure how they  are going to verify.... maybe a "pinky swear" will suffice.  I was fortunate enough to get Pfizer for first shot and Moderna for second.  Our government assured us it was good to do, just some other govs don't recognise it so no travel for me until they get that straightened out.

I'm sorry to say that I had to cancel my room for Valhalla.
I'm sure going to miss joining in on all the fun that I know  you are going to have!
Hopefully there will be another Valhalla in my future.

Raymond...it goes the other way around as well...we are sure going to miss you and others from the ID group this year. You all fit right in when you made it up to Merritt the first time...won't be the same without ya. Will definitely be another Valhalla next year and hopefully for years after that.
I've also missed your Joseph Jaunt meetup after those first couple our two groups met up for...was hoping for that to be another annual "must attend" event. I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to ride with the boys from Idaho cooldude cooldude
