Seward Alaska might have a population of a couple thousand people year round. Probably triples with the summer tourist season. Congratulations Lydia  cooldude

pretty amazing a lot of olympians are age 17 to 18 not even fully developed yet and at the top of the world in their sport.  Must be in the drinking water or what the kids eat nowadays that make them develop earlier than most.  Plus, am sure they are strict on training and what they eat most have been doing their sport since the early years am sure.

Never heard of her before (but then, I don't follow swimming), regardless, that's doing some serious strokes.   Just looking at her picture above, it's hard to get a good idea of just how she's put together but, most great swimmers have very long arms and massive shoulders.   She seems to qualify.
I'd be very proud of her also.

Swam competitively in my youth, tough and rewarding sport.  In a sport where races can be won or lost by hundredths of a second, winning by tenths of a second is huge.  And well deserved.  Everything from the starting dive to underwater pulls and flawless turn transitions is practiced (hundreds of) thousands of times.  The red faced, air gaping exhaustion you see after a swimming race is genuine.  Pulling and kicking through the thick medium we call water is a draining, muscle burning experience.

Congrats to Lydia, she worked her butt off and earned it.   cooldude

The video of her high school classmates and staff going nuts is priceless!

Nah...too much activity there. I'm holding out for naps when you have nothing to do and too much time to do it in. Grin

He approaches the tub, towel in hand, he enters the tub with a BEAUTIFUL American entry, his signature move, sits down, and, and,  AND HE NAPS IN THE HOT TUB FOR THE GOLD!

And then, for the finale, he lets out some awesome bubbles which have a less than awesome aroma.   Grin

Which raises the age old inquiry; why do farts released in water smell worse than those released in free air?  (obviously the water has something to do with it)
