A neighbor close by is having hogs come into his front yard every night and root up everything. So he said I could park my truck in his driveway and wait with my crossbow. Yee haw!!! I might be up all night cleaning a pig for some wild pork if I can shoot the right one. I’ll have the crossbow, the 1894 Marlin .357 and my trusted 686. I hope it’s just one arrow and done but who knows....

If you get one and eat it, I'dlike to know what you think. I've never had wild pork. The other white meat 2.0.

My neighbor brought one home from hunting. I helped his dress it and he gave me a leg. It was delicious

A hunter friend of mine gave me some to try. I’ve eaten a lot of wild game. This was as gamey as a caribou in rut.

We eat a lot of wild ferrel hog. At my deer lease there were 60 hogs taken this last yr out of Jarrell, Tx. 39 were taken by the owner hiring a helicopter hog hunter. Ferrel hog to us is not as good as store bought pork but is ok to eat. We grind and mix ferrel hog 25%, deer 25%, and we grind a brisket for the other 50%. Makes good ground beef recipies. The best way we eat ferrel hog is I take the back strap and the hindquarters and cut them into about 1” cubes and put them into a crockpot with potatoes carrots celery corn and some pork flavoring and spices. The hog meat turns out very tender and tasty that way. As a steak or pork chop the meat is generally tough and grainy and gets packed inbetween my teeth. Have to floss afterwards….ha. Fun to hunt though. My 12 and 16 yr old grandsons can do some damage to a pack of farrel hogs with their 223 AR 15s

Jeff I wouldn't be surprised if it was a few 2-3 armadillo's. Just the same, enjoy the hunt.

Good luck.... If there back I'd be surprised. They came back Friday night. That’s why we’re going tonight What is wrong with people? So much activity no pigs could forage!!!! Cars up and down the road at 2 am. Kids walking around with flashlights at 0130. People in their back yards yelling at 1 to 2 am. A guy can’t even get a shot at a pig with all that going on sheesh!!!!

A few safe shots early might clear the rabble off for later. Or not.

From the article: Seago posted a photo with the dead hog on Facebook, saying the animal would be “mounted by me personally” in his taxidermy shop.Quotes in original.... and pretty funny. 820-pound hog What a monster. (I bet he used all 6 shots, and quickly too) That crossbow should hit like a sledge hammer, but vitals are necessary. I think I'd want a safe place to escape to before shooting something like that. Like my roof.
