War Paint to be retired

The KC Chiefs have apparently "Woke" up.   The decision has been made to retire the Chiefs' mascot horse because another team changed their name and it's the right thing to do.

What did War Paint do to deserve this?     Being put out to pasture has now become a totally different thing.  The Chiefs say they have no intention of changing their names.   I'm thinking the Chiefs are just taking a distracting step to be able to say they've done the "right thing".  

Now War Paint is out of a job.  
As an after thought, I'm thinking the Chiefs should change their name to the "Conservatives" and some other team change their name to the "Progressives".    Might draw some very high TV ratings if the right teams get to the Super Bow.

Based on the last few seasons pre-game antics, what do you think?   Did I drop that L intentionally, maybe, maybe not.
