Ok so I got a call to fix this table and six chairs. The table was cracked in half and all six chairs had almost every joint cracked loose so they were unusable

I did the table first epoxy resin and it’s all one piece again

The chairs are a funny shape. But they glued up nice

When all six chairs are tucked it it really is a unique set up.

What neat design, don't think I've ever seen that before.

Esp in narrow/small rooms, that would cut down on ripping your toes off in the dark.

I'll bet it's European.

I walked in here yesterday to talk to Gordon about live edge shelves.

He has a warehouse of beautiful slabs of wood.

The carvings, which are not very visible on the sides (pictures) might give it away too.

My Chief bought a whole bunch of furniture while we were in Subic. I’m sure there were some rules about how much stuff you could bring onboard. But Chiefs always knew how to work around the rules. As a matter of fact, I think that may have been the number one prerequisite to becoming a Chief.  Smiley

It would be called mahogany. In the PI they have species of wood you will not find anywhere else e

Ya it’s VERY PIish. I spent a lot of time shopping in the furniture shops there which were no more than a garage. I just never took a liking to the style.

Thanks for the very technical and accurate description Mike. There are a bunch of species around the world that people call mahogany but as far as I know surprisingly there really isint an actual  mahogany tree. Mahogany refers to the color and grain texture actually unlike say oak or maple.

Nice work.  Even when I blew it up I couldn’t see the repair.  I assume it cracked along the grain line someplace.  I’m guessing someone dropped it unevenly.

The table top was three pieces joined together and it split more like a separation. It wasn’t perfect but a clean enough break that I got it to close up and be almost invisible. Thanks

I believe the P I is considered the tropics. Not much difference temp wise tween there and Yankee Station off Nam. There were some artists around when I was ashore. Wood and other things. RIDE SAFE.
