Greetings, I picked up a Black 2001 Std with 37K back in April. Like any older bike, she needed a little TLC.
I enjoy tinkering with older bikes and getting everything back to proper operating condition.
Nothing major on this Valk, and it seems that most parts are readily available. So far, so good.

Living in the Midwest, I have always appreciated that my 49-state equipment was not hobbled by CA emissions settings. Once I got this Valk home, lo and behold I have a CA bike. Arg...
I am compelled to convert to 49-state tune, but due to her age and the whole "don't fix what aint broke" philosophy, I might just enjoy the ride.

Cheers and I'll be in touch.

Welcome. I picked up a 2000 standard Bumble Bee a couple years ago and am still on my honey moon with her. They are a thrill, nothing like them out there. Where abouts in the midwest?

It’s easy enough to remove the CA emission stuff. I think those bikes might have slightly different cams that aren’t so easy though.

Mr. Head, I think the CA cams were R2 cams. The R1 was the hot cam. My ‘98 was a CA bike and my ‘97 is a bit quicker.

Howdy noa2slodown!

Congrats on your new ride!  cooldude

Here's a good source for some carb parts, vacuum hoses, etc. that are common replacement parts...
