Well, it looks like Valhalla will be a no go (at least officially) for a second straight year, due to Covid restrictions at the border as well as a few members from our Canadian contingent needing to cancel for other reasons. The total cost for the required Covid testing prior to entering Canada combined with the cost for an additional test upon returning to the States that our American friends will have to pay is quite hefty, and the procedure for meeting all the requirements is a bit onerous as well. So, we are making the call at this late date to cancel the event, and plan on getting everyone together again next year...either back here in BC or somewhere in WA. Please note that some of us Canucks may still show up at Johnny's in Grand Forks for a day or two just to go for a ride in that area, but there will be no official Valhalla gathering for 2021  Cry Cry
Please email or call Johnny's motel to cancel your reservations if you will not be heading to Grand Forks next weekend.

Sorry to hear the news Mike, I was looking forward to meeting up with some fellow riders.  Grand Forks is only a couple hours from me and I'll keep my reservation open for now and see if any other Canucks feel like meeting up for a ride.  I'll keep watching this post for further updates.  Thanks for all you do Mike.

Thx Jim...there's a chance still that my wife and I might show up on the Saturday if all goes well. We're waiting for news on a new granddaughter's arrival in Lake Country any day, so we hope to ride up there to meet her after a few days getting used to her mom and dad  Smiley and then spend a few days after that riding into the Kootenays. I grew up on the shore of Kootenay Lake, just outside of Nelson.

I've cancelled my reservation. I've still gotten the days off work, but still don't know what I might do. It will all depend on Tess.

I have cancelled my reservation today, but I can still meet up for a ride if anyone wants to meet up in that area.

Sad to read about the cancellation!

I still have my spot at the campground booked for Fri and Sat.
If nothing else changes I am still planning on riding to Grand Forks on Friday, then have a nice little trip on Saturday.

Grand Forks - Salmo - Kaslo - New Denver - Castlegar - Grand Forks

@JJ... we could meet in Salmo Saturday.

I will keep checking here for replies and updates...

Depending on how things go in terms of when things start to happen with our daughter and soon to arrive any day now new granddaughter up in Lake Country, Lisa and I may head to Grand Forks on the Saturday as well. Would be great to do a ride through my old home territory the Kootenays. Only a short run up to Lake Country from Grand Forks, so we're hoping to tag on the bike ride either right  before or after  the big event  Smiley

I can be in Salmo anytime on Saturday, just let me know what works for you.   If you need to set a different location to meet just let me know and I might be able to get there the night before.  thanks

Hi from Grand Forks!  Sorry about the cancellation.

There are 7 Valkyries living in Grand Forks and  if some of you folks show up we would like to meet you.  I am the only VRCC member and have got the rest of riders into the Valkyrie.  Send me a message if you would like and we can hook up.  I have a preety nice bike shop with the obligatory beer fridge as well !!!

7 of ya...wow, who knew?  cooldude All these years riding through and staying in Grand Forks,  I can't recall seeing any other Valks. Perhaps we cancelled Valhalla too soon, thinking we didn't have enough Canucks on our own.
If we get a chance to get out there next week for a couple of days , I'll definitely shoot you a message...if you guys ever want to make a run out to the East end of the Fraser Valley, I hope you do the same.  I've got a beer fridge in my garage too Wink

Cheers,
Mike

Well the stars have aligned with everything else going on for me at this time, so I'm booked (again) into Johnny's for the Friday and Saturday evenings. Plan is to meet up out my way mid to late AM with VanCity Valkyrie and head to Grand Forks .
No actual Valhalla Rally this year, but at least I get out for a couple days on the road and a chance to meet the local Valkyrie group cooldude

Doesn't that just figure. Covid shuts out the U.S. riders and 7 new Valk friends can be found in Grand Forks.

Hope you all can meet up for a ride. Next year could be an event.

Now I'm really bummed out we can't go.

Have fun and we expect an excellent report! cooldude

Just don't forget to get some pictures Mike, since you lost your photographer on this ride, and really make those of use who couldn't make it sadder that we couldn't be there too.  Cry

Hmmmm, I wonder if Tess would be up for a drive in the convertible instead? Show up at the MC Rally again with a car. That is, if I could get away, maybe Sat for an overnight??

Anyways... Have fun, stay safe.. wish I was there...  smitten

PS: with the call for calendar pictures, lets see if we can get someone else's bike in there, other than someones black/red IS, as they are getting a swollen head on how pretty his bike looks.  angel
