Though most of the various Ripsaw models are unmanned and used for such treacherous situations as combat or firefighting, the company also makes a civilian version, with seating for up to four, that can best be described as a personal recreational tank.
Based around a custom, high-strength tubular steel exoskeleton, this Howe & Howe Ripsaw EV3-F4 is powered by a modified version of the proven Duramax turbodiesel V-8 mated to a rugged Allison transmission. This high-speed, ruggedized go-anywhere vehicle shows just 98 miles of use since it was built last year. The seller shares that it is one of just six four-seat examples that Howe & Howe has constructed.
This Ripsaw is powered by a 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V-8 that’s been thoroughly tuned by Pacific Performance Engineering in Montclair, California. The seller claims 800 horsepower and 1,500 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with a five-speed Allison 1000 “extreme duty” transmission, with the drivetrain combining to allow the Ripsaw to run at 60 miles per hour, making it “the world’s fastest dual-tracked vehicle,” according to Textron Systems, the massive defense contractor that acquired Howe & Howe in 2019. The vehicle has a 64 gallon fuel capacity.
