Coming back to Hattiesburg from Little Rock, AR today, I heard a loud bang/explosion. Didn't actually see the impact but, a pickup pulled out in front of a semi and got T Boned. Maybe a half mile in front of me. The Pickup was actually broke in half at the cab/bed line. The front of the semi was gone. Stopped but, there was nothing to be done for the driver and passenger in the pick up. Please, watch where you're going and look to see what is coming at you. LEOs arrived very quickly, someone else called 911. Ambulance was pulling up as I left. My limited "First Responder" training wasn't going to do squat to bring those pickup folks back and someone else was attending to the semi-driver.
I'm sure there are worse wrecks, this one just happened to occur within hearing distance. I'm sure that had I been looking that direction, I would have observed the actual impact.
Interestingly, all those folks who had been blowing past me started slowing down.

doesn't it still give you the eeby geebies still thinking about it am sure. 2 months ago seen a cycle t-boned guy turning in front of him in SUV was 2 cars ahead of me about 30 feet away saw it all. I heard cycle rider start saying OH SH.... and by the time he never finished it was too late cycle stopped dead in it's track smashing in passenger side front door and he flew over SUV 10 feet up and did backflip over SUV landing 20 feet on other side NO helmet in busy intersection when light was changing yellow to red both thinking they could run it at the same time. He was bleeding down his head not moving and several there already so kept driving on by slowly not much could do he died week or so later. 100 yards behind my house saw tail end of near head on 60 mph collision ford fusion vs. older ford pickup. Fushion lady dies instantly while pickup driver flipped over onto it's roof landing about 100 feet into the ditch used jaws of life and med flighted him to hospital. My kids were crying coming home from school at the time the coroner arrived and throwing a blanket over ford fusion lady saying a prayer on hwy behind our house. MAN, when sheet metal collides like that made me jump 1 foot up in the air scaring the _rap outta me was so LOUD and eery.
That cycle death recently has gotten me to be more cautious on the roads more so than normal keeping longer following distance between vehicle in front of me and keeping over to the far right side if see cars coming at me have seen few years ago idiot coming at me 60 mph on hwy. half into my lane luckily I was riding the white line on far right side of my lane otherwise BAMMO gone. I also do not ride as much as I use to maybe all these close calls and seeing bad accidents has made me afraid to some degree?

That's terrible, Ron. I'm sorry you had to witness that, it does take an emotional toll when nothing can be done for the victims. Good on you for stopping and trying to assist.

STUFF happens and really gets you thinking at times. I grew up towing and would get rid of the aftermath. Some just give you the shivers. There is an intersection I go thru almost daily [ with a 4 way stop light] and its surprising the amount of traffic including heavy trucks that blow thru that light.

In the days before collapsible steering columns, We've had to pull people off the steering shafts, they speared themselves. And before seat belts, we pulled them out of the windshields.

Just to qualify, I've not seen many bad accidents. So I don't mean in any way to diminish what Rams has said/watched.

Have no issues with others describing their experiences here. I simply don't wish to relive it. And that reminds me of my dating life. But, that's another story..... Rams

I am thankful in that I have not witnessed nor come upon major fatalities type accidents in my life. When working I was putting on Gov and personal vehicles over 60K a year for nearly 30 years. Some major highways, mostly 2 lane and dirt roads. I have stopped for several non life threating accidents where heavy semi's loaded with logs have had issues. Not fun having a load of logs scattered across the road when headed home after a long day. I do feel for you who have had to witness or attend these types of accidents.

Last year when I was still an Uber driver I was in Columbia City IN on a run. Hwy 30 runs throught CC on the way to Chicago. Lots of trucks. I stopped at a gas station for a nature call. When I came out I hear a crash and see a semi pushing a rolling late model Camaro into the ditch. It landed on its left side. I got to the ditch but there already people that were helping the guy in the car. I had to go since I had a ride. I heard it wasn't a fatal but I'm sure he was hurt.
Recently my brother and I were driving north on Maplecrest Rd out of Fort Wayne going to lunch when we look over in the southbound lanes to see a SUV on its roof. We got out to help. Helped a guy get the female out of the overturned SUV throught the rear door. She had a small cut on her hand but unhurt other then that. Evidently she ran the traffic light 100 feet down the road and was T boned by another car sending her Suburu flipping...

tell that to the cycle guy who did that who is 6 feet under now when both him and the SUV turning in front of him tried to run it. IMO I blame the white SUV who zipped thru turning in front of him since pretty sure the cycle was near 1/2 way thru the intersection and the SUV was turning left VERY fast in that intersection. However, the cycle guy had plenty of time to stop before light turning red but like most HD's, the loud pipes gunning it sounded loud but did NOT speed up too quickly to get thru the intersection just 1 second quicker he would be around.

Darn near watched a wreck this AM at the intersection I mentioned earlier. I was behind a car at the stop light. It turned green and a semi blew thru the red as the car in front started thru on the green. The car apparently wasn't watching closely and they missed by about 5 ft, maybe. The cars brake lites came on, it got their attention. I'm glad they missed, it would have made me late for coffee.
