Put the bike up on the lift to do a good cleaning. Well, every time the bike is up in the air I check the rear wheel bearings. Always good but good to check. Not this time. Click click click. So it’s tore apart and I’m at autozone renting a slide hammer. Here we go. Hope it goes better than last time!!!!

It should go together just fine. How many million miles on these bearings ?  Have you installed the double row bearings ?  I forget exactly what needs to be done, but, its not much.

Finally got the bearing changed. It was quite an adventure with the tools. They didn’t work and was broken. So I had to fix the bearing extractor and find an alternate way to tighten the jaws but I adapted and overcame. Now just to put the bike back together. That’s the easy part  Cheesy

In our whole town the worn stripped bearing puller was the only one of any kind available to rent or to buy. The only one. Hard to believe.

Glad you got it going. I'm stuck with mine, replaced the rear tire, and cleaned the calipers. Went to put in new brake pads and the spring fell out. Have no idea how to put it back. Tried every way I could think of and search the forum and the internet for a picture, no luck. I located a Clymer manual and it doesn't have an image worth a crap. You wouldn't have a picture or any advice, would you? I've tried every position I could imagine... Thanks for any help you can provide.
