I replaced the stock tank on my 2002 Standard with an Interstate tank.  That meant I couldn’t install the velocity stack accessory unless I wanted to lift the tank by an inch or so – an ungainly accommodation in my opinion.  When a set of used stacks became available on eBay, I decided to snag them and figure out a way to install them with the least amount of modification to my bike.  I bought a few feet of aluminum flat bar, and cut two 12” long pieces so the ends extended a half inch beyond the ends of the choke linkage trim piece, also bought a bunch of 8x32 machine screws, threaded spacers, acorn nuts, cable clamps, and a few feet of rubber U-shaped edge gasket.  I painted the aluminum bars gloss black, mounted the stacks to the bar, put felt on the underside of the bars to protect the choke linkage trim piece (the photos show cork discs, which I replaced with felt afterwards), and clamped the bar to the choke linkage trim piece.  The photos here and the next two postings show the details.
