The book calls for 2 turns out from being lightly seated. The early years said 1 3/4 turns. It seems this is one of those controversial subjects. Others have differing advice.

Well that may not be as simple of a question as you think. I will elaborate. The below screen shot is from the Honda Service Manual. Note the part I highlighted.

So, if you KNOW the pilot screws have never been adjusted since the factory, Honda says leave them alone. If you were to rebuild carbs; count the turns and put them back where they were.

IF they have been replaced or adjusted to some unknown point, the screen shot shows the Initial settings based on model and year. If you go with that, the manual has an RPM drop test procedure to perform. If you are at a higher altitude, you adjust for that after the drop test.

You can usually download the Honda Manual, but when I checked the Norway site was down.

If you want a copy of the scanned in manual email me at  Mooskee@gmail.com I will provide it for you.
I have also rewritten the RPM drop test procedure in a more understandable fashion. I can provide that to you as well.

To add to the controversy, there are other options:
 - Gunson Colortune is an option.
 - Some  say to just set the pilots at 2 turns out from lightly seated. The bike will run fine and save you
a lot of time and work an a very hot engine.

If you just want to have a phone conversation about it, email me or PM me, and we will chat.

Mooskee,
thank you for the offer, I do have the original Honda Manual.
today I removed intake 1 & 3 and adjusted pilot screw on 1, 3 & 5 to 2 1/4, took it for a ride and a responding much better, not 100%, about 70% a huge difference, I'm going to adjust 2, 4 & 6 to match the rest and see how it goes.
cutting the D screw to accommodate a screw driver when I did the carb was a life saver. I used a small bit and a small mirror to adjust the pilot screws  cooldude

best way is to read the plugs.

https://4secondsflat.com/articles/sparkplugreading.html
with ethanol fuel the porcelain cannot be read but others areas of the plug can be

see Example #2:

the deposits right on the edge of the threaded body, that it's slightly fat at idle.

u want that area to be dark tan.  u don't want to be too light and u don't want it to be black either.

whatever ambient temp u set the screws at that setting is good for +/- 25F
