What...? Again? Talk about history repeating itself! Or, perhaps it's just that old thing of being doomed to repeat events from which previously presented lessons were not learned. In the case of yours truly, I'm thinking it's more like simply not paying attention to details... possibly even just pure unfortunate luck... Whatever it was, it did prompt Big Wolf to muse, "Here we go again!" I recently wrote about Jerry driving me several hundred miles to a doctor's appointment that had actually been rescheduled to a later date. Well, this time I'd ridden to his house in advance of the Veterans Day Ride (he lives ten miles or so from ground zero), but rain in the forecast had caused me to want to alter my riding times a bit... So there I was... with a check needing to be deposited into my account... To shorten an otherwise long story a wee bit, I hadn't found a convenient opportunity to visit a branch of my primary bank while still in Florida, but I knew there would be some opportunities in the Volunteer State... but not in Alabama... No problem, Jerry offered to accompany me to the nearest one to his place, seventy miles or so away. Because rain was in the forecast, which had much to do with me even being there right then in the first place, Jerry once again offered to drive me there in his car... which he did. As I re-entered his car in the bank parking lot as rain fell all around, he uttered those now all too familiar words... Yep, I'd done it again! That day was a Thursday, so no big deal had been anticipated... Only that particular day was also November 11th, and in honor of Veterans Day, that bank was closed... Double dang! Another busted ride on yet another wild goose chase! What...? Again...? The devil is in the details, it's been said... The rain is supposed to stop tonight, and tomorrow appears to be a good one for riding, although a tid on the cool side... Well, I told Jerry if things looked promising when we got up, we should do a back roads ride back to Lebanon, TN. My wise friend nodded in approval, but then with a most thoughtful look on his face, he added, "Perhaps we should call first this time..." Now that is a wise person indeed!!!
Well, I made the call this morning and confirmed they were indeed open today. Jerry and his absent-minded riding partner then rode over to Lebanon and took care of business. Then it was time for some really important business!
The New Moon Barbeque place was also open, so... we dined on our usual fare... Afterward, we rode to Cookeville to join the VDR folks. We took back roads going and coming, and what a glorious day for scooterizing on curvaceous roads it truly was! WOW! Had to pull the plug on my Gerbings, though, as being toasty with a full tummy causes sagging eyelids, so... No animals or riders were injured during the making of this adventure...
Some of our favorite peeps were already at ground zero, which of course means reporting will have to wait for afterward... I could be wrong, but I think it just may be Miller-Time! DDT
