The NuWave X L I ordered from Amazon arrived today. Refurb unit Not new. But It LOOKS brand new. Washed all the racks and baskets and put those items inside cranked er up and the ONLY way I knew it was running was the elements got orange red the outside got slightly warm and cycling the switch a couple times and Paying attention I sorta kinda mighta heard the circulation fan. NO obnoxious odors coming from it And It WILL be Tested with a pizza later on this evening and maybe some chicken parts tommorrow. 1 item of Concern though-unpacked everything went over everything seems to Not have the needed temp probe.  Lips Sealed Called NuWave and they said git ahold of Amazon!  Undecided Not EVEN a day here and already ISSUES! Sent Amazon an E mail and so far No Joy!  tickedoff They-Amazon-take yer money quick nuff!  Roll Eyes RIDE SAFE.

ran into a similar problem last year when i ordered a instapot from amazon. it came with a big dent in the side of it., even though there was no damage to the box it came in. contacted amazon and they gave me a a number and a place to drop it off. sent back at their expense. the problem with some of what they sell, amazon never touches it. the item is sold threw amazon from an independent seller. check the receipt or the posting you bought it from and see if it isn't an independent seller.

air fryer's are awesome have a power XL smaller unit for 2 people is made of plastic use weekly for past near 2 years with great success not broke yet.  I think was only like on sale 45 bucks or something like that works great for 1-2 people, even can cook small 5-6 oz. steaks in them or pork chops, etc. with great success for only like 15 minutes and done at 370 degrees stopping once to flip halfway thru.

I eat too much processed foods but french fries (can be iffy usually burn them cook too long too high heat) and chicken strips,  egg rolls, totinos pizza rolls, onion rings, anything deep fried with breading can all be done in 12 minutes or less.  OH yah,  breaded cheese curds are AWESOME as well for about 8 minutes and done.

biggest thing is to NOT overfill with food or does not cook even and takes too long.  All my items are usually 12 minutes or less and done.

check to see how hot your bottom gets might be a good idea to put a cutting board on the counter underneath unit.

Did the pizza tonight and just got done eating said pizza! The pizza preset-15 mins-Too Long. I Did catch it before it incinerated. It did on the otherhand git a bit crispy on the edges BUT I could Still chew it fairly easy. And I Am looking forward to learning more about my new to me machine And cooking more meals in it.
cookie-I checked while I dry ran it and the ONLY place I can Not put my hand on comfortably Is the very back panel and I DO have the back panel far enough away from things so it Will NOT be a problem. And right after the test run and the pizza moved machine and put my hand in the footprint of the machine barely got warm. My coffee pot puts more heat in the counter top! As I go along I'll attempt to update as I gain more expertise with it! RIDE SAFE.

IF you have a convection oven, you already have an airfryer - just find yourself a metal basket type thing . Or maybe a rack on a sheetpan.

Our new stove (gas) is a convection, and our microwave oven also does convection....

heck, every single one of my main appliances fridge, oven, washer/dryer are all 1993 new all whirlpool.  Some 28 years later they still run only oven heating coil and electric dryer heating element replaced is all with the washer torn apart twice.  I suspect new appliances are in my future in next 5-10 years.

My air fryer gets HOT on bottom and blows very hot air out the back fan on top.  Is a cheaper unit we bought a nicer air fryer/pressure cooker unit for my daughter last xmas and does not get as hot or loud since is better insulated, but that was 89 bucks on sale vs. my cheapo powerXL smaller unit 45 bucks or so.

Is frying air something like boiling water? I've had girlfriends that could muck up both.

turn the heat down on the air fryer to say 350 or 370 if burning the edges or burning the food.  The most ever I cooked something was 15 minutes frozen but most foods are 10-12 minutes depending on how much you load up the air fryer of course for 1-2 people for us usually.

I have never cooked anything over 370 degrees but thinner food items like french fries I turn the heat down to 350 so they do not burn too much and always about 1/2 way to 3/4 way thru cooking (6-8 minutes)  pull the tray out and flip the food over or shake the food up to not stick to the metal pan is a must IMO.    The top sides always crisp up 1st over the bottom side, at least on my powerXL smaller 4-5 qt. unit.

My daughter #3(Tracy) always had a problem with cooking, even after marriage she never seemed to get the hang of it. As a kid in HS she was going to fix some dish that needed boiled water to mix with it, so she filled a tea kettle with water and put it on the stove...all the while chatting with someone on the phone. First mistake...she was going to boil an entire tea kettle full for the need of only a couple cups of water. Second mistake...chatting on the phone while doing it. First result...she forgot to turn on the burner due to being on the phone. A few minutes later her mother asked what was with all the stuff on the counter & Tracy told her I'm waiting for the water to boil. Tracy asked if it was boiling yet and my wife simply answered the question; "no."  She said nothing else and didn't turn on the stove. Finally, Tracy goes out to the kitchen and discovered the still cold water, getting a bit flustered with mom for not saying something. Mom answered "Tracy, you didn't ask me to turn it on, when cooking you need to pay attention." Tracy turned on the burner and walked away...and...forgot all about it until we smelled something hot/burning in the kitchen. Seems quite a bit of time had passed since she had turned on the burner, all the water had boiled out and the tea kettle was somewhat disfigured. Her three sisters never let her hear the end of it, to the day she died Tracy was reminded by them that she couldn't even boil water. Raising four daughters...I could write a book. Not about how to do it, but the experience in itself. I miss it...I miss them!

When I was a younger man I wore contact lenses that needed to be placed in a little oven for sterilizing.  You can drop the lens case in a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes if you're caught without the little oven.  One night I slept over at my girlfriend's house while her parents were away and I asked her to drop the contact lens case in a pot of water an boil it for a bit while I took a shower.  Well, she didn't put enough water in the pot and didn't check in on it so the water evaporated and the case melted.

Beginning of the end of that relationship.  No common sense.

Pulled out my trusty pizza pan took the biscuits and duted them nicely with corn flour-Thanks Ross-put them in the air fryer 340 for 16 minutes and started to cook up the all important sausage gravy. Bout 8 mins in paused the fryer/oven and turned the biscuits over. 2 mins left turned the machine off. Slathered on the sausage gravy and DANG those biscuits for canned were GOOD!  cooldude A nice light golden brown you generally only see in the ads.  2funny My Thanksgiving turkey gonna git cooked in the air fryer!  coolsmiley You just KNOW when I git er sorted out better gonna take a stab at a breakfast meat I LIKE. You can also cook nicely in an air fryer smaller 5-6 oz. frozen steaks about 15 minutes flipping once halfway thru.  Those kwik trip 5 oz sirloin steaks when on sale for 99 cents each or 1.29 now with inflation (LOL) on sale cooking 2 of them thrown in frozen are mighty tasty as well.

This Covid thing is getting out of hand if we have to fry air now before we breathe it.

Is it covered by Medicare?

In all my decades' experience with being my own short order cook, I've discovered that staying in the kitchen and watching the progress gives me a way better result than going down to the TV for a half hour or so and hoping for the best.   Grin

An overcooked pizza makes a better Frisbee than actual food.

I am going to have to try biscuits and gravy.  Yum.  (one of the major food groups)  cooldude

bought yesterday another air fryer, this time 12 qt. oven air fryer same mfg being Power XL at Walmart 69 bucks.  My 4-5 qt. Power XL air fryer has a pull out basket vs. this oven air fryer has 3 trays (really 2 trays useable) and easily 2x's bigger.

Tried it out this morning 12 qt. one and takes much much longer to cook the foods since is over 2x's as big, but it runs cooler and quieter though than the smaller one.  I like them both but really only have room on the counter for 1 of them.

I thought the 12 qt. would be big enough,  sight unseen bought in box no display model out,  to cook a 12 inch pizza in to replace our mini countertop big toaster oven, but NO LUCK is only 10 inches wide and deep,  needing 12.5 inches to put a pizza in.

I've been using a Ninja fryer that flips up out of the way when it cools down for a year now, takes about 30 seconds to preheat.

that is what we bought for our daughter in her new house last Xmas a Ninja foodi  bigger air fryer/pressure cooker and cooks well but still not as quickly as our POWER XL mfg. brand, but runs quieter and is insulated better so not as HOT to the touch.

I have now used both our 12 qt. and 4-5 qt. POWER XL air fryers and have come to the conclusion the bigger the air fryer capacity,  the longer it takes to cook the food by another 5-6 minutes on average vs. a smaller capacity air fryer.   I think most air fryers work well though and cook quicker than any oven can.

that is funny, sorta like me and the misses having limited counterspace now with 2 air fryers so will probably put the small convection oven I only use for pizzas in the basement along with all the other JUNK I have down there past 30 years.
