One of my good customers asked me to do a Santa project. She had bought a life size Santa that was meant to be mounted on plywood as a Christmas decoration.

What an adventure

First I got to work on the stand. Did a mock up and decided it was good

Then attached the spine to what will become Santa

Next was to paint everything

Then glue Santa on. That wasn’t fun. Lol

Then cut out Santa from the rest of the sheet of plywood

Then some clear coat and delivered today. She almost cried. I guess this was an old family project they never got around to doing

Only thing that would make it better is a nice layer of snow in the ground Wink

Now that looks like the real Santa!  Who's the guy in the red suit?    Huh?

Great work.

If I had that in my garage for 40 years, I’d almost cry too ! Excellent. I would have made the mistake of cutting the space between the legs.

The instructions called for cutting between the legs. They also called for a very flimsy stand that went up one leg. I made improvements and no one will see that where he is going anyway.

They are placing him on this balcony

He looks like a Coca-Cola Santa that I had thousands made when I worked at Coca-Cola.

Very nice work.   cooldude

When I glue paper, it always soaks through and messes up the paper/picture.

Even with a heavy stand, up on that balcony, I'd recommend a guy wire or tie down for wind.  It wouldn't do for him to fly away like Superman Santa.

That looks like part of an old Coca Cola add, without the coke picture.

If they come up with the 12 magic reindeer, tell them to take a hike.

Worked all day in the yard in the blowing 40s.  Nippy.

The balcony is only 27 inches deep. Decorative only. Those double doors don’t even open. (Kind of a waste). Santa’s feet will be up against the rail and the support foot will be against the house and they are going to put a couple sand bags on the support legs. Probably won’t withstand one of our hurricanes but it should survive any surprise thunderstorms we can get at any time.

Look at Santa's right hand. I am confident that's the Coca-Cola Santa minus the bottle of Coca-Cola. Exactly what a great ad campaign can do! That is a Classic Clause!
   Great project Chrisj!

You could put so many things in his right hand.  (not the lights)
