Had someone 2 months ago told me that a Republican could possibly beat the hand picked successor to the late Edward Kennedy, I would have told them they were crazy.   That is exactly what is likely to happen, barring any sudden shift in the direction of polls.  Even if Brown prevails in the election, the "will" of the voters in Massachusetts is not guaranteed since we have already seen that the Massachusetts legislature is not shy about changing laws as frequently as the wind changes direction in that state.  Regardless, this is a very encouraging sign.

Possibly our Republic is healthier than I initially thought....

I'm a career military man and I like the fact that Scott Brown has served in the military. I would vote for him. Here is a link that I found.

Hey Serk, I am also surprised that Mass. may be where the first significant shot is taken in the fight to right the country. However if my history lessons are remembered correctly.... wasn't there a little uprising called the Boston Tea Party held in that state a few hundred years ago??  cooldude cooldude

Charlie I believe that the recent problems began when supposed conservative Republicans in office started voting like liberal Democrats. Started us down a bad path AND gave fuel to the liberal Democrat supporting media to get this idiot bunch we have in power now.  tickedoff

Thank you all from my heart, unlike Acorn members, I have but one vote to give (they sell them these days in Congress). Knowing how many of us Massholes do not want Obama care, I trust that his visit will have the desired negative effect on the rest of the voters.

Poll: Brown Leads Coakley By 3 Points
Saturday, 16 Jan 2010 07:45 PM

Republican Scott Brown leads Democrat Martha Coakley 48 percent to 45 percent in the special Massachusetts U.S. Senate race to replace Sen. Ted Kennedy in a telephone survey conducted Jan. 12-14 among 600 likely voters in Massachusetts saying they will definitely vote in the special election on Jan. 19.

Brown leads Coakley 94 percent to 1 percent among registered Republicans and he leads 58 percent to 37 percent among unenrolled voters. Coakley leads Brown 71 percent to 20 percent among registered Democrats. A total of 8 percent of Democrats and 5 percent of Republicans remain undecided.

Brown leads 54 percent to 39 percent among men while Coakley leads 50 percent to 44 percent among women.

Brown leads 52 percent to 42 percent among likely voters age 18 to 49 and Coakley leads 47 percent to 46 percent among voters 50 and older.

A total of 9 percent of likely voters say they have already voted by absentee ballot, with Brown leading Coakley 58 percent to 42 percent.

The interviews for this survey were conducted Jan. 12-14, 2010, among a statewide random sample of 600 likely voters in Massachusetts.

As someone who has, on this very board, condemned the "progressive" agenda, I felt compelled to put my money where my mouth is and contribute to the Brown Campaign.  In my opinion it is a very rare opportunity to make a difference. Think about it!

Well it looks like the LIBERALS have shown their true colors again, cant tell the truth to save their own lives. Massachusetts: Coakley ad 'patently false,' Brown threatens legal action
By: Byron York
Chief Political Correspondent
01/17/10 1:04 AM EST

Representatives of Massachusetts Republican Senate candidate Scott Brown say Democratic candidate Martha Coakley has until Tuesday to retract an incendiary campaign mailing or Brown will take legal action. At issue is a Coakley flier charging that Brown would have Massachusetts hospitals turn away all rape victims, a claim which a Brown spokeswoman called "a lie," "patently false," and "atrocious." "The campaign is calling on Martha Coakley and [Massachusetts Democratic Party chairman] John Walsh to retract the false statement," says Tarah Donoghue, a spokeswoman for the state Republican party who is speaking on behalf of the Brown campaign. "We're going to give them until Tuesday morning to do the right thing."

The flier, sent recently to voters by the Massachusetts Democratic Party, says: 1,736 WOMEN WERE RAPED IN MASSACHUSETTS IN 2008.  SCOTT BROWN WANTS HOSPITALS TO TURN THEM ALL AWAY.
