As recommended in Shoptalk, I've purchased one of these. I didn't think it was particularly cheap at nearly £16 inc postage, but there you go.
Now that I've had the wheel off I can't see anything wrong with the old one, tbh.
If I decide to put the new one on, how do I get the old one off? I don't want to start gnashing it with a screwdriver just yet.

I do use a wide flat screwdriver to gently pry that out. Not much friction holding that seal in.

Yes, put the screw driver blade between the bearing and seal and work your way around slowly. They usually come out pretty easy.

Thanks, folks.  'Twas all I needed to know.
Should I grease the new one before inserting or is it best placed with the outer part dry?

I wouldn’t change it. Instead by a set of bearings to have on hand. They don’t come with the dust seal. Change the seal when and if you change the bearings

Problem is my inquisitive screwdrivers have already started greeting the Seal and have become very well acquainted with it.  Smiley

I have always put a very light coat of grease on the outer part to help it slide in without damage.
