Did an initial cleanout of my carbs with carb cleaner and compressed air. A couple of the cylinders kept popping at idle. Broke down and bought an ultrasonic cleaner and redid the cleanout.  What a difference, the crud in the recesses of the carbs just came oozing out within seconds of immersion. Runs and idles like a champ now. Just used Simple Green ( non-corrosive pro version ) and hot water, works great.

The first one. Non corrosive to aluminum and cleans great in the ultrasonic.

How much did you dilute it,      how much time in the bath   what temperature did you use?

People have had problems with with carbs and ultra sonics in the past.

I used regular simple green and rinsed well after. Just picked up a bottle of the pro3 to do the next set, so same question as pancho.

I seem to cannot find "Simple Green" at my usual haunts anymore.
But bought something called "Jungle Jake"....still at the same "Fleet Farm".

I assume it may be the same stuff.....but just a different label?   It looks and smells the same!  It works the same way so far.....NON corrosive to Aluminum.....

Just like when I worked at the Paper Mill.   Paper towels.  JUST change the wrapping on them for different Companies.......but it STILL was the same exact paper towel......

so just out of curiosity, what brand ultrasonic cleaner did you get?   I see a lot of stuff made by a company named Vevor-  almost the only type available, but they got a lot of different sizes available.
Any comments about yours, and what size do we need for these carbs?

Thanks

This is what I use, undiluted, in the heated sonic bath for 90 minutes each. Doesn't hurt the aluminum one bit, I also took some old rubber parts and added them to the bath as an experiment since it says it won't damage it. Tis true...the rubber parts were unfazed. About halfway through I remove the carb body and blow through various passages with an air hose, then back in the bath for the remaining time. I set the temp at max so have to used gloves when first removing the parts, then flush real good with water and blow dry.

I'll see if they got that or an equivalent out here in SoCal.  Where'd you get that Krud Kutter, John-  Home Depot, etc, or an industrial supply place?
Where I used to work we had a couple ultrasonic cleaners, and I think we used Omega Clean- cleaned a lot of freshly machined parts, mostly aluminum.  I wish I would have paid more attention now...
I think I'm going to get the 6 liter size cleaner from Vevor- made in China of course, like everything now, but they got pretty good reviews.
That's more than big enough for our carbs, and will fit bigger car carbs, at least half at a time.  and it won't take up too much storage space.

Got it at Tractor Supply. Home Depot and other big box stores carry Krud Kutter but I have yet to find the particular type pictured in most of those stores. Not sure why...maybe just out of stock.
