I am looking to replace brake rotors fron and rear.
What brand should I go with, OEM or aftermarket?
Were is a good place to buy them and what sort of expense would I be looking at?

TIA

Gregg, I replaced my rear one with an EBC. IIRC it was $159. I do remember that it was almost exactly half the price I could order one from anyplace that had "Honda" in its name. Worked great since.
That said-are you SURE you need to replace the rotors? (and why?)

if you go with EBC rotors, "I'm running 3 of them on the Valk", be sure and use their pads........

150% better stoping power in my book.

I also have their bonnet rotors on my Trike rear.

NO POWER ASSIST & I can stop her from 60, almost as fast as the Valk.

They got good stuff..........    Their rotor fits the bonnet from a brake builder in Florida.

This is the unit it is on.

Who's son is in there with me?     He is quite the nice gentleman.......  He could ride with me anytime he so desired and if Dad would let him....

Valker,
That what I was thinking, replacing because there is a definate lip at the very edge of all three rotors.  starting to get some discoloration on them as well.

The main question I have not seen within my search of rotors or brakes, Is what company / companies is the popular preferance of purchase when it comes to buying the parts.
I know that some Goldwing rotors will fit, still searching that topic.
If cost was not an issue I would also replace the brake lines with the braided lines.

Thanks to all for your help.

Goody and I used Goldwing rotors on the front.
That way you can use stock pads and the
rotors donot rust like some of the others.
The rear is another story. Stock or EBC.

Iirc, the rear rotor from a ST1100 will fit the Valk rear wheel.

After getting over the "near-heart-attach" from the price of OEM rotors, I bought all three EBC rotors, but have continued to use the Honda OEM pads, front and rear.  No squeeking or squealing etc.. They have been thru several sets of pads over the last five years and are still in good condition.  Absolutley no EBC caused problems.

I just replaced mine at 100k. I used the 1800 goldwing rotors on the front, cost was about half the cost of valk replacement rotors. My braking is much better than before with the stock rotors. Rear rotor was still in good shape.

I want to add this since I stated it a while back, the ST1100 rotor will only fit the older wheels, so be advised.

I recon it might! But if one were to buy a rotor why not have it fit.

He's talking about the 1st design of the rear wheel.  With the introduction of the I/S in '99, a redesigned wheel was introduced that uses a different rotor.  In 2000, the new style wheel was used on the Standards and Tourers.

It should.  Daytona posted this on an earlier thread concerning wheel i.d.:  "The old wheel has a 1J in front of the wheel size part# located on the rough casting of rotor side, where as the newer wheels have a 2J to start. Just a note! a ST1300 rotor will fit the old wheel also."

I've been tryin to get that straight for some time now! The ST1100 is what uses the same rotor as the older Valk's! I purchased a wheel from pinwall_cycle_parts ignorant to the older wheel not fitting my 99 Int wheels rotor, looking at a rotor they had which part # matched the HDL parts fiche # for an old wheel. I asked them what it was off, they said a ST1300! Come to find out it must have been a ST1100 instead. The 1300 isn't even close.

The ST1100 rotor and the older valkyrie rear wheel's rotor is the same,  PN 43251 MT8-000

I was the one that said ST1300 which is what I was told it was off! but didn't verify the # until now. St1100 is what fits the older wheels.

Standard     1997 - 1999  Rear Brake Rotor is 43251-MT8-000
Standard     2000 - 2003  Rear Brake Rotor is 43251-MBY-671

Tourer        1997 - 1999  Rear Brake Rotor is 43251-MT8-000
Tourer        2000            Rear Brake Rotor is 43251-MBY-671

Interstate   1999 - 2001  Rear Brake Rotor is 43251-MBY-671

Thanks Daytona.  We need to add that to the Valkyrie Bank O'Knowledge.
