I noted something interesting rummaging through their attic storage.  They have a number of Valkyrie bags, but significantly more right bags than left.

Are we that consistent that more of us tend to break the left bag?

He also had a 1997 red and white.  I think the price is good, but it's been sitting a while.  Whoever picks it up will need to be willing to fix up the should-be-shiny parts and maybe do some cleaning on the carbs.

It has 53,764 miles and is pretty well bone stock.

........Im thinkn the guy who owns/manages the place...is a sport bike type...since he,s calling it a...Touring Monstrosity....and has it incorrectly labeld as a...Interstate Model....and he dosent seem too shy on the asking price...if it has as you said...parts that should be shiney...shined...carbs that need cleanin...and 54k miles.....

......I wish they had one of them....motorcycle salvage yards round these parts..

Yeah, I smiled at that myself.

The largest portion of his clientele are sport bike and dirt bike riders.

The Valk they picked up from someone local who bought it new and then let it set for the past few years.  He says he drained the tank before storage, but I'd still be suspicious of the carbs.

He did.  He had at least one clean set (past tense).  He had one set on an Interstate that slight damage (road scrape) on the left side.  He had one set on a Tourer that looked good from fifteen feet.  I didn't get closer than that.

It breaks my heart to see all those fine Valkyrie parts sitting out in the weather.  The CB was still in the bracket on the back of the I/State even though they'd taken the trunk inside.

I'm still troubled by the lopsided count of right side bags.

Mine also, Scott.  It seems that good cleaning days tend to also be good riding days.

Well, I have dropped my bike 3 times.  All stopped.  All on the left side.  So, maybe that is true of more.  I did no damage, but maybe some do?

Left bags syndrome ? well looks like the Warning 'Sticker Caution' (DO NOT FORGET KICKSTAND) should have been put on the gas tank after all  uglystupid2 also Caution PLACE FEET ON GROUND WHEN STOPPED,  Grin or that dam vacuum shutoff valve that causes more of a fire Hazard in the garage because of failure, than it's design to save 'us' from ourselves  uglystupid2

I'm the non normal Willow. The left bag was about the only thing not damaged when I went flying.

Very good observation, Willow.  Sounds like a poll would be in order.  It could help everyone identify when it happens the most and when to pay extra attention.

I had a total of 4 drops during our Valk experence.  Three were to the left, and one was to the right.

Three of the drops were while we were moving very slowly.
--- 1. 1999 = 2-up, left U-turn in grass.  Fell left
--- 2. 1999 = 2-up, uphill right turn from stop.  Got off gas to avoid lane-changing car.  Fell right
--- 3. 2009 = 2-up, left U-turn in parking lot which had very steep left lean.  Fell left

One of the drops was while dismounting.
--- 1. 1999 = 1-up, dismounting and forgetting to use the kick stand. Fell left  uglystupid2

He's honest on condition.  The other is pretty subjective.

Hmmm...I would think a left lay is more common.  Undecided

I'm 2-1 on my right.

2007-come out of a field through the ditch, went to turn left, fell left.
2007-Hour later  Angry Stopped under overpass. Foot went into the drop off, fell right.
2009- Went to park on Mt Moriah Deadwood SD. Parking lot was slooped, turn right, fell right.

9/09   Was sitting at a red light , having just got off QEW in Ontario to head to Niagara-on-the-Lake, and was rear-ended..... By my dad on his '04 Wing!!!!!!!

2000 I/S knocked out from under me...rolled and fell over about 40 feet from me..... BOTH of us fell on our right side....... Saddle bag & mounts, engine guard, radiator cover and RT corner of fairing rashed.

Trunk and rear fender trashed.....

Thank you Progressive for all the new and used parts.

Going out for paint this week.......
