A non-fitted N95 provides little more protection than regular surgical mask. Also, are we supposed just wear the same one day after day after day? That's not how any of this works.

Yes you are correct and all those things crossed my mind as well. There is one other issue, not related to health but economics. People were going to start buying N95 masks based on what we were being told. Now, all those company's in the U.S.A. that were going to or are producing N95 masks will no longer have a market place. But wait you say, what about the FEDS surely they will have to buy new masks to replace the ones they are taking out of the national "storage". Yes that will be true but I wonder how those "purchases" will be arranged and distributed? And what will the profits be like for the manufacturers.

Just more governmental stupidity. Too little too late.
At least the 95 series is the only mask that works, but, most people I see have no idea how to wear a mask.

Are any made in the USA?
I thought last year N95’s…these are the ones with the little flap for ventilation were no t recommended because they release air via the venting port.

That's cute (at least). I wear a mask when required but, I figure these masks will come in handy when I use the leaf blower or compressed air to blow dust/dirt out of the garage. Any mask not properly sealed isn't worth wearing. N95 is supposed to filter 95% of the contaminates but, only if properly fitted. Rams

Those were discouraged early on. They are intended for industrial use only. I still encourage vaccination, then don't fret about the masking madness unless you're in a mosh pit.

As they are being used, masks are just BS.

I combined the comments regarding free masks to this thread (from the free test thread).

More information, if you are interested, from our local TV Station. How to spot fake vs. legit N95 and KN95 masks
The CDC warns 60% of KN95 masks on the market are fakes. From the article linked below: N95 masks have multiple layers of protection and they're approved and certified by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
"That's on the mask itself," explained Kelly Carothers, director of government affairs for Project N95. "So it'll always have the manufacturer name, NIOSH written on it, the model and a TC number which is the number given to the manufacturer from NIOSH."
Another tell that it's a real N95?
The mask has a head strap, not ear loops.
"Look for those head straps. If you see a mask that doesn't have head straps that says N95 on it? Don't buy it. Red flag," Carothers said.
KN95s are manufactured in China, adhere to Chinese standards and are not NIOSH certified or regulated at all in the U.S.https://www.wltx.com/article/news/health/coronavirus/how-to-spot-fake-vs-legit-n95-and-kn95-masks-covid-coronavirus-free/531-ec6e6a6f-d15d-4e16-83ea-13cd6a674c04?fbclid=IwAR1RFWu7svfuBZlUz5LTVcd7HAhwe5WgQQdm8Wxo90IJhNqNKvXzHQh3uao

I was wearing N95s for awhile, but the head straps (2) kept breaking.
I do have a fat head. And those masks had been out in my tool chest for some years (for paint and solvent fumes).
