Sandra's tin foil hat slipped and she said it's just one step closer to showing proof of vaccination to enter.

You know I find it very interesting that this has happened.

I mean, yes its been some years but did things really change that much?  I mean has the population changed that much?  Or is it that there more folks with free time?   Or do folks have more money and free time???

Then.

August 2013

I mean the "Arches".  Last time I was there it the parking lot was not full and there were not that many folks around.  But that was 12 years ago.  I guess things have changed (although I don't really believe they have).

Arches June 2009

And Yellowstone.  In 2011 (I know its 10+ years ago) there was hardly anyone watching Old Faithfull

I kinda get it... On the drive to return Kali into Uncle Sam's loving embrace we went to the Grand Canyon late December.

Even though it was all snowed over with low hanging thick clouds, it took at least an hour to get through the entrance gate... The place was PACKED, they were running shuttle buses to remote parking lots, people shoulder to shoulder at all the viewpoints...

North or South?

I went to south once. Never again.

Grand Canyon views are way less crowded on North Rim especially hiking to the Colorado and back, much further and steeper grade.

The North Rim is closed in the winter. (And this was a quick side excursion, didn't have time to go to the north rim even if it was open.)

I am singularly impressed.  What has changed.  Has the population grown that much in the last 5 or so years?

I have visited the Grand Canyon at least three times and never, ever experienced major crowds.

Never had to wait to get in.  Now this was on the south side end of August and it was a few years ago.

This was the south side late December last year, in a snow storm (And that's all you could see of the canyon too)

If anyone chooses to they can walk from the South Rim to the North Rim and winter camp in one of the most remote locations in the country or there and back in the same day.

My mom and niece make big trips to multiple western parks most years.

They lay their plans, and make reservations a year in advance.

Probly everyone is trying to go see and bring their kids to see natures best works…..before a neighborhood is built there.

It's also probable that when people look to do family or group outings, doing so outdoors in the wide open spaces is more attractive than it used to be (for many).
