Yet another fire recall as also our 2019 tucson just got recall to get it in just recently for a fuse panel to be replaced so does not set vehicle on fire as well.
I do not believe either fire recall is HUGE nor a big deal vs. the MASSIVE millions of dollars it is costing Hyundai/Kia on the 2.4 and 2.0L engine rod bearing clearance going bad anywhere from say 50 to 120K miles. Basically, internal engine rod bearing have excessive wear due to metal shavings inside engine from supplier/mfging. process that over time/mileage causes excessive engine vibration and eventually engine may seize. The few dealerships replacing engines that I called have 10-15 vehicles needing replacing all the time taking 2 full days to swap out an engine and test it thoroughly, assuming they have the manpower of technically inclined mechanics available to do so on a daily basis, which most do not have. Some say this massive engine replacement recall happening daily on a TON of hyundai/Kia's is going to bankrupt them both long term since sooner or later years down the road they will not have any parts to swap out of older technology 2.0 and 2.4L engines affected now. What good is a lifetime warranty if the parts to replace are not available any longer?
At least Hyundai/Kia is standing behind their bad engines for well over 100K miles and if rod bearings ever go bad again AFTER replacing engine as I had done, is good for lifetime warranty free of charge yet again and again. So far AFTER engine has been replaced, NO dealers that I called or talked to have had any come back in being bad yet again needing replacing a 2nd time around but am sure NONE are over 60K miles again on NEW engine so ONLY time will tell. My dealer installed the stupid knock sensor to detect excessive internal engine vibration at 75K miles and around 82K miles car went into limp mode which was HUGELY dangerous in heavy traffic or interstate driving top speed 50 mph is all. Dealer put a bore scope down cylinder and the rod bearing measurements had excessive clearance not within mfg. specs so got NEW engine out of it some 12K miles ago. Knock on wood new engine lasts another 80K miles, it better.

Be really happy if get 200K miles on that sonata only 1/2 way there now pushing 100K. Love the mpg on that 2.4L engine gets 35 to 39 hwy mpg with 18.5 gallon tank is around 550 miles easily on a tank of gas.
One thing dealer stressed is keep receipts and mark all oil changes which I do (but not receipts of oil or oil filters) in book in glovebox what oil and when/mileage I change oil every 4500-5K miles religiously. If dealer sees excessive engine sludge usually means 10-15K oil changes and will not cover a new engine then.
IMO, the hyundai/kia engines are not as well made as Toyota/Honda 4 cylinder engines and wear internally too fast not made to last over 200K miles much like the Big 3 USA mfg. engines.
