EDIT: I was kind of shook up when I posted earlier.  My more proper farewell...

It is with a heavy heart that I bring the news that oZ (co-founder of the VRCC) lost his battle earlier this evening.  Please keep his family in your thoughts. Raise a toast tonight to the man behind the curtain.

We will miss you oZ!!

Kind of ironic that he passed on the anniversary of BigBF passing last year.  Hopefully they'll meet up on the other side.

Here we are together in happier times (circa 2002).

EDIT:  Sarah called to let me know of oZ's passing.  Karen got to visit with him yesterday, Justin went this morning, Sarah went this evening.  He coded about 10 minutes after she got there, so she thinks he was waiting for her before making his exit.

"My name is Randy Smith. I am the brother-in-law of Gale “Oz” Scalzi…the Founder and former head honcho of the VRCC. It is with profound sadness that I report that we lost our beloved brother this evening. Please pray for his family to get through this and if you are gathering in any fashion tonight or soon please raise a glass in honor of OZ."

F*CK!

Saying prayers for him and the family.  Don and I basically knew of him because we didn't know him long.  But he helped create many "first" memories for us.  He presented us with our first VRCC InZane award (newest Valkyrie owners). We bought our first Valkyrie(also first motorcycle) on the way to our first InZane at Belaire #1.  I've played that video in my mind many times.  I'll remember him as a nice person, and the guy with camera.  Rest in Peace oZ.

I am very sorry for everyone's loss. But his legacy lives on, something that many thought would pass before him.

Very sad to hear, I must say I got very concerned when he was put on dialysis. I’m sure he will missed by all who knew him and loved him. He was very talented and I enjoyed the bike builds that Justin was involved in. Surely we are being reminded what is really important in this world, sometimes, we miss the point.

I lost a good friend this week, seemingly fine a week ago, stomach pain serious enough to warrant an emergency room visit a week ago Friday, a mass on his pancreas, immediate move to Vanderbilt on Saturday, tests scheduled on Monday, no test performed on Tuesday, hospice on Wednesday, passed at 6:18 on Friday evening.

Very saddening to hear when anyone you know from the "Good old Times" passes on to a different existence.  Lots of good memories of oZ and other founding members of the VRCC and the InZane Rallies.  I have met lifetime friends thru the VRCC.  Thank you to oZ and all those that have made this all possible!

Deepest condolences to Gale's family, who will miss him the most.  There are hundreds and thousands of members in the VRCC that will miss him also.

Rest In Peace, Gale.  Eternally Ride the Wind!

God Speed Gale.  You liked to tell people they were a rock star, you sang lead.

Karen, Justin, Sarah (and family)... I'm so very sorry for your loss.  We share hurting with you.  May God's peace envelope your entire family and bring your hearts comfort.

Your family has created many lasting friendships, and brought a spirit of fun to us all over the years.  Blessings upon you.
