while  driving  home from Naples on 95 in Georgia in the middle lane in Bonnie's car
a tractor trailer decided as I was passing him and even with his cab to enter my lane
His front left bumper impacted just behind the front wheel which sent me into him and spinning out of control
I spun off to the right behind him onto the grass several revolutions and kept from going into the woods

The car stopped about 5 feet off the right shoulder
I got out and told Bonnie to call 911 and saw the damage on the right side
911 pinged us as there was no mile sign present and the officer we had just passed while he was writing a ticket came pronto

The driver of the truck stopped a 100 or so yards down the road
The hit took place in a marked 70 location and that was my speed with the cruise on

I missed the sign as well as all the trees, no cars or trucks stopped and I hit none

Cops came and took info and the car was driveable, the doors work and no engine damage

Reminded me of my 1st valk wreck in 2002 I drove it home.   We made it to smithville nc then home by 5pm today

The word for today and yesterday is gratitude

Drank a whole lot of 18 yr old scotch when I got to the hotel   for medicinal purposes of course
Bonnie had vodka    slept like babies and got back on the road by 8am for home

Sorry for your troubles Evan, but aside from car damage (and nerves)... you kinda got lucky (in a backhanded way).  That could have gone 50 ways worse than it did.

Lucky and blessed. Small miracles happen around us all the time, my fat has been pulled out of the fire numerous times. Happy you both made it home relatively unscathed.

Whoa, Nellie!  Sounds like an unexpected detour that didn't turn out to be scenic.  Glad you're both OK, cars can be fixed.

Did you ever speak with the truck driver?   Did he receive a citation?

Good thing your guardian angel was with the two of you.  Did you give the little elf a snort.

Indeed.  Except not just after the accident, but before the police come.

I once had a guy tell me he didn't get drunk until AFTER the accident (and before the cops showed up).  He said he was shook up and drank to steady his nerves.

I told him that story sucked he needed a better story.  The cops, the judge and the jury didn't believe him (and neither did I).

You know, it takes a little while after drinking before your BAT goes up.  Not long, but it's not instant.  You don't get to a .22 BAT in 15 min minutes.
