Convicted felon, 150 days in jail, eligible bachelor, who will be his new love interest? I think he’s getting off easy due to his public profile and recognition. Exited the courtroom with his fist in the air, defiant to the end.

Apparently there is a least one non-woke judge in Chicago.

In addition to the five months behind bars, which will be served in Cook County Jail, Linn sentenced Smollett to 30 months of probation and ordered him to pay $130,160 in restitution -- less the $10,000 in bond forfeiture Smollett had previously agreed to -- to the city to cover the more than 1,000 hours in police overtime it took to investigate Smollett’s false hate crime report.  He also ordered Smollett to pay the maximum fine of $25,000.

What bothered the judge the most, he said, was the motive. Smollett’s crime wasn’t one of passion or opportunity, but a deliberate attempt to concoct a story so shocking that it would give him the limelight he desperately wanted, according to Linn.

“You wanted to make yourself more famous,” Linn said. “And for a while it worked. The lights were on you. You were actually throwing a national pity party for yourself.”

The judge also ripped Smollett for doubling down on his lies at trial, when he took the witness stand in “the capper of all cappers” and lied to the jury “for hours upon hours.”

All that money in restitution and fines.... almost like a student loan (for idiots).   Smiley

In a move the ACLU is decrying as cruel and unusual, he will be made to share a jail cell with his attacker.

150 days for a Federal charge that could have incited a race riot? BULLCHIT! And whining he's not "suicidal", give me a break. If I was the judge I'd called him back in front of the bench and give an extra 6 mos. Hopefully he didn't piss off H.R.C. to be eligible for suicide. Friggin' idiot.  Angry

Every complaint will increase jail time by five days. How soon will the guards throw him out so they can have some quiet time.

Right, I'm sure inmates get out early all the time for making a nuisance of themselves.   Grin

I'll bet in Chitcago IL, even his 150 days can be shortened by good behavior (often a day or two each month).

150 days?! He should have gotten 3-5 years. The judge calling him out on lying to the court, where’s the penalty for that, I thought perjury was frowned upon. I’ll guarantee somehow a “fund me” site will help with the monetary penalty, people will still believe his side of the story and feel sorry for him.

 Yeah exactly..

I heard he got the 150 days but will only serve 75 on good behavior. By his constant complaining he should do the 150.

In some cases, a stay of execution of sentence pending appeal can be warranted. (with bond)

Unless there was some great big mistake in his trial, I doubt this is one of them.  I predict he will do his time later.

Google says he's worth about $1.5 mil; this is the reason he's getting out.  You or I would just have to do our time.  (one of the appeals judges dissented against his release)

And he was in jail, not prison.

The terrible aspect of this is that they allowed him to be released. This means that his attacker can come back and try to finish the job to silence him before the appeal.

I think we will see one of two scenarios:

1. He will stay secluded wherever he is holed up.

2. Most likely he will go out in public with several bodyguards and lots of cameras, in order to keep up the charade.
