Didn't want to hijack the daylight savings time thread, but Serk's comments:

"Perfect analogy for my view of 99% of what government does:
The one thing the government could do on this issue, that the vast majority of folks would support and approve of them doing, is to undo what the government previously did."

made me think of my hero Ron Swanson (actor Nick Offerman - yes, the same Nick Offerman that Lagavulin named an edition after, but that's another story).

Ron Swanson was a character on the sitcom Parks and Recreation that I never watched because I thought from the trailers that it was the Amy Poehler show and I really don't care for her.  Turns out she only had a minor part.  But anyway, I really like Ron Swanson.  Here's his take on government.

I too have never watched the sitcom, because I generally don't watch much TV, but Ron Swanson is definitely a hero of mine as well (Big surprise, I know.)

I've taught my kids early and often that taxation is theft, they're VERY familiar with the "Daddy Tax"...

Another of my favorite tidbits from Ron Swanson, that isn't government minded:

(And the Ron Swanson Lagavulin is DELICIOUS btw, especially the 2nd one, the Guinness barrel aged...)

And his love of breakfast proteins is also legendary...

Edit to add - If you have little people in your life that could use this sort of wisdom, I HIGHLY recommend The Tuttle Twins books. I've got the whole series for the triplets, they eagerly reread them every few months. They often have the entire set on sale for 50% off:

Hadn't seen that one, but I approve!

I sometimes put this one on, just because I've been told it's bad to drink alone.....

I never watched Parks and Recreation, but I did just watch one of those
whisky ads y'all posted. The instant that fellow said "Excuse me, good sir..."
I recognized him as a main character from the 2nd season of Fargo. All
four seasons were good, because of the good characters in the show...
