Who in blazes came up with this idea?   uglystupid2

Just my opinion but, it looks stupid and is obviously unsafe for whoever the Squatted vehicle hits.
I know I did some silly things to vehicles when I was a less mature person but, this one is beyond me.
I just read where Gov. Youngkin  VA will sign a new law soon outlawing this type of vehicle on the street.
Maybe I'm being too judgmental, what do you folks think?

I agree Rams, why buy a perfectly engineered truck and do that to it is beyond me.  Hopefully it will soon pass as a fad kind of like long hair or bell bottom pants.  Even more off the deep end is to then hook a bumper pull trailer to the rear.

What is a squat in relation to a vehicle?

Nose up in the air so high you can barely see over it from the drivers seat when in motion.

As silly as "stanced" cars.

For people like me...

THE CAROLINA SQUAT
The Carolina squat is a vehicle modification, mostly common in trucks, where the front end is lifted higher than the rear, in order to create a squatted stance.

Why are squatted trucks unsafe?
Everyone Agrees This Obnoxious Truck Trend Has to Go Away

No practical use unless you’re into extreme off-roading. Unless you plan to offroad at high speeds in your quest to be a weekend warrior, there’s no practical reason to squat ...

Made me look.

I hung out on the 1st gen section of the tacomaworld forum for a couple of years while I
was finding and refurbishing my truck.

Here's a couple of threads about squatting - most of them don't get it either...

About as useful as one of those bouncing front-end Low Riders.

Reminds me of this.  Except at least you can see ahead of you.

I hate annual State safety inspections, but I doubt that would pass the Virginia one.

I don’t “like” it, I wouldn’t do it, but we don’t need more laws on the books over silliness. It is a fad that will pass. I remember a time when young folks were jacking up the back end of their cars to an extreme amount. No laws I’m aware of and after a time that fad passed too. Young people crave attention and the squat works, much like wearing your pants somewhere below your ass.

It's not new, some guys were doing something similar when I was a 17 yr. old know-it-all. And we were also doing just the opposite as well...dropping the front down low, leaving the rear at stock height. Actually looked kinda cool on some cars, never did it to mine. Guys would claim it's not low enough in front until you can knock over a beer can with the bumper. Buddy of mine got his stuck pulling in their driveway cuz it was too low in front so he called a friend to come push him out. He comes over in his Olds with the front jacked up and couldn't help...bumpers were mismatched by over a foot. We often would lower the back but leave the front at stock height, that wasn't as extreme and still cornered pretty good. Did it to my '49 98 Olds fast back, didn't like it so put it back to OEM. My growl-friend's place had a slope to the driveway approach and it dragged.

Re. the term "growl-friend" it applied to her in this case. Look up the word "bitching" and it would show a picture of her. Was a rather short-lived romance but I remember her kisses, she could raise your BP 50 points in a matter of seconds. Of course at 17, that's not difficult to do anyway.  Evil

It's only slightly more stupid than the extreme camber trend, where it looks like the car was dropped from a great height and broke all four spindles.

John,
Knowing you're approximately my age, I'm very hopeful you don't show up at Mississippi Spring Fling craving attention.   I'm afraid this might not go over well regardless, if you do, I assure you, you will be trail/tail gunner on any ride.   No one wants that image in their head.  Wink

I prefer the front low look too. Just low enough, not too much. Heck I even did it to the golf cart. Dropped the rear about 2" and the front 4".

No worries, I have mastered neither the squat, or the low rider pants. Besides I don’t want to dethrone you from the sexy senior Valkyrie pilot position, although with a group the size of the Fling you could have some serious contenders. I don’t want to even be around for the Whopper  competition!

54 Ford 2 door 5:50-15s up front and tryin to recall might have brrn 8:25-15s in the rear with reversed main spring shackles. Gained maybe 2" in lift. At that time it was called-the California tilt. Hot Rodding was HUGE when I was growing up-50s 60s. And appeared at that time to be centered in Ca.  I was at the grocery store when the new hot rod mags showed up to make SURE I had that months copy. Even tried to keep up when I was in The Navy.
Far as that squat thingy goes-weight transfer NOT a good excuse for NOT seeing directly in front of you.   And I Will ADMIT some of the long hood conventionals I drove directly in front of the truck I saw Not much. A small cage cut in too close I lost sight of most of the vehicle. Feather the loud pedal and brake til I regained the sight picture.
And I will state-Everyone has the GOD given right to be stupid as long as No ONE gits hurt and NO ONE GITS KILLED! RIDE SAFE.

There are laws against that, at least in Wisconsin there are... I see it as a fad, but a dangerous one.

With that vehicle being so high, in a rear end accident, what will stop it from entering the passenger compartment of a SUV carrying three kids in the third seat. It would be a 5000 pound projectile and enter the SUV up to the front axle and kill or at the very least injure the passengers.

Bumpers are at a set height from the factory for a reason.

If our brilliant lawmakers are banning dangerous modes of transportation, don't tell them that MOTORCYCLES ARE 30 TIMES MORE DANGEROUS than about any other mode of transportation.

Thanks goodness, it's just a fad crazy2

But, I will admit that first step getting off the bus is a doozy....

Tons of Squatted trucks down here. All kids driving them. Looks pretty stupid to me but oh well.
Worst part by far is that almost every one of them are straight piped. There is not a more obnoxious sound that a V8 with long straight pipes.

Sounds like someone got tired of everything in their truck bed shifting to the front every time they stopped.

It’s unsafe because you cannot see over the hood so unfortunately since you can’t outlaw stupidity itself new laws have to be passed
