I call it mid-life because I tell whoever will listen that I plan to live to be 115.  Grin

I have left the world of drafting and design, most recently as an electrical designer, having just been called to pastor a small church here in Calgary.  It's been a busy time for me!

My uncle made a similar move, from corporate training and education to pastoring a small church in Colorado...

I wish you the best, that's quite a calling let alone a huge leap of faith. If I'm ever in your area I'll be sure to stop by.  cooldude

I am curious. you say you've "just been called to pastor ". Was it literally a call, request, long term plan, etc. or a calling?

Awesome! I experienced the same circumstances back in the 60’s when my father entered the ministry. The small church he pastored was a plant of a larger church in the same town. I and my sister were in our teens, my sister became the pianist and I was the song leader for a time. It was quite an experience.

May the Lord bless all your efforts.

That is very brave of you. But knowing God will always provide when he calls helps but it’s still a bold move to actually pull the trigger.

The “just been” part of it was that they had the vote this past Sunday. The call from God started a couple of years ago, with a rethinking of what my vocational desires were, followed by an increasing impression and burden that this is what I should pursue. God had been working on my character and I had been given increasing levels of responsibility in my old church over the last ten years, including, more recently, preaching occasionally. The application process to the new church started in December, and included interviews, reference checks, and guest preaching.

It is certainly confidence inspiring to know many people believe in you. This helps immensely with your decision of the vocational change.
Again I wish you the very best!
