The underdog Wolverines played a superb game to beat the SEC tournament champion Volunteers, then could not get a ball through the hoop with the Wildcats all game long. Nine big ten teams were picked for the NCAA tournament (more than any other conference), now all gone.
Kind of makes one wonder who says that team is better and the other. Looks like some were really overrated and somewhere very much underrated. Maybe there are/were some teams out there that should have been invited instead of the teams that were there.
I've never been a big basketball fan. But I have followed some college ball the last few years (the pros never, they can all go spit).
What I have learned is that among the the many good teams, on any given day, anyone can win. The variabilities of size, speed, defense, and teamwork make it so. But the biggest variable of all is who can shoot the ball through the hoop consistently. A team can still be great defensively and in great team play, but if the shots don't fall, they lose.
My Wolverines spent the last couple months winning one then losing one, over and over. On their good days, they looked like they could beat anyone. On their off days, they could lose to a third of the league.
