Thinking of purchasing a set of NOS Progressive 412-4234c 12" shocks & looking for opinions on them.  I weigh about 215 and plan on mostly using them riding solo.  I have standard rear mc tire and my main goal is lowering the rear a bit.  Any opinions?

Opinions vary, but the Pro. Susp. 412s are common economical replacements for the Valkyrie Showas.

They are not as good as the Showas new, but are satisfactory for replacing 20+ year old Showas.

I think going to 12s is a mistake because going shorter means less travel and a harder ride (and earlier peg drag).

If you go shorter, you may need a heavier spring rate to make up for the less travel.

If you feel you must go shorter, limit to 12.5s, IMHO.

It's been years since I called and talked to PS about new shocks (discontinued 440s), but when I did and asked for tech advice, I always got someone on the phone that really knew what they were talking about.  I'd call with questions and for advice.

And don't throw away (give away or sell) your Showas, you may want them back.

You can try contacting Worx Shocks, they will custom make them to your needs/specs.
Website is rather bare bones, but they answer email/phone
Was going to order some rear shocks but life has been sideways for a bit.

I'm sure the OEM shocks are due for replacement as old as they are...
