Picked up a new to me 1999 Valkyrie Tourer last week, I’m the 3rd owner. Previous owner had a stroke and was unable to continue riding so put it up for sale. I drove the 2 hours and bought her. 42K miles. I paid $3900. She runs out good. Pretty bone stock minus a shift assist that he added. She’s got a couple battle scars on front fender, think I’ll grab some touch up paint or put a chrome piece over it.

I live in NW Arkansas and have rode bikes most of my life. I also own a 2003 ST1300.

Looking forward to meeting new members and hopefully riding with some Valkyrie owners soon.

After reading forums, I’m still scratching my head on what lubrication to use on my final drive....green grease, guard dog, valvoline moly blend, or Loctite LB8012.

Can’t figure out how to add photos to my thread

Welcome. Think about attending Inzane. Billings Montana Mid June. Enjoy the Valk. GET A MANUAL. I do all my own work and it invaluable. The rear end lube and process is critical. There are a lot of wrong ways to do it. There should be good advice here.

Best wishes.

From the postimg.cc link you posted, assuming you're using Chrome (Other browsers are similar, but not exactly the same) right click the image, then select "Copy image Address".

Then on the forum site, click the icon of a picture , then paste the address you got from above into it, like this:

Code:
[img width=600 height=800]https://i.postimg.cc/fyjZ8Hjz/04-DD237-F-931-A-4-E76-AD70-0-E3-AF00-F0-E2-D.jpg[/img]

And when it all goes through the post, it'll look like this:

And howdy and welcome, and gratz on a nice clean looking Valk!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Valkyries.   It's a great place to be.

I second the "Go to Inzane" thought.   It's a fun event with more Valks than you'll see anywhere else and you'll meet some of the nicest folks, all riding Hondas.  Wink

Welcome.

It's been awhile for a "grease" request. M77 Honda moly paste would be my preference. Honda 60 Moly paste was the go to since the GW was introduced up until 2010 or so. Be sure to replace the 3 o'rings also.

On a note, change the manifold o'rings to Redeye versions. It's a age thing.

Welcome!!

I hope you didn't tow it with the kickstand down... it will bend the cross member.

Absolutely not. Had the gentlemen I purchased it from sit on bike while I tightened the straps each side.

I’ve owned several motorcycles over the years:

1982 Suzuki gs850L
1984Honda V65 Magna
2003 Honda VTX 1800C
2007 Honda VTX 1300C
2003 Honda Magna 750

1998 Honda VFR 800. (Best sounding bike I’ve ever ridden until Valkyrie)
The gear driven cams and TBR exhaust on VFR was second to none.

I currently own:
2003 Honda ST1300 and the new to me 1999 Honda Valkyrie.

That 84 V65 was a beast. There was a add I saw in 85 that said it would exceed the national speed limit in first gear. Don't know if it was true, but I test drove one in 84 while looking for a new bike and it was a fast.

The V65 was a beast. Luckily I got one that had the Dave Dodge oil mod done on it. Got better oil pressure to the cam shafts. Eating cams and second gear dogs rounded off were prominent with them. Honda dropped the ball on this motorcycle and scrambled on next gens to make up for it. We got gear driven cams because if it. Oh the sweet sound those made!  Cool
