Link to pics at bottom.  Would like recommendations for replacement parts to check while I have the entire thing out of the bike,

So, to start things up, I noticed the brown fuel T's coming into each carb bank was leaking, the right side one most significantly, The left bank was a pain to separate cylinder 6 carbs, but managed eventually.

so I pulled the carbs (in good time I must admit compared to the first haha)

I have also already separated each carb from one another

PLAN:

1) Replace the 4 o rings for the fuel splitter tubes
2) Replace the 4 o rings for the fuel runner tubes
3) Replace 4 or rings for the air breather tubes connecting the carbs
4) Replace the 6 air cutoff valve vac hoses (done)

Need a new bowl seal so will do a rebuild kit most likely further down the road but am not in a rush

6) Going to re-clean jets/floats/bowls
7) Slot or make a D socket for the mixture screws (need to adjust)
Cool Going to go through with the desmog since I have been chasing a vac leak.

How can I check the choke actuators?
Cylinder 6 runs cool, so looking into that too

Now, I must admit, the other week I found a jet sitting in my carb bowl, lol, was I just being too careful not to overtighten, rookie mistake? I have never needed to put anything on threads, but if that should be considered for insurance, recommendations?

Also notice coolant leaking onto the top of the engine block, upon closer examination, it looks like its leaking past the bolt, possibly torn or degraded gasket? will look later.

He used to offer a complete gasket/o-ring kit to rebuild your carbs, but guessing it might be tough to get some at the moment, so the kit isn’t currently offered.

You shouldn’t need anything on the jets…they screw in, and just need to be tight enough.

Just Guessing you need a new o-ring in the t-stat housing…does the fluid accumulate there even if you wipe it up?  It isn’t by chance loose or broken?

A lot of guys have had trouble with an in-line filter. A fuel starvation issue at higher speeds.

It looks like you are getting coolant seepage from the hose. Might just need a tightening.

Are you asking about what to do with the carbs, or what to do to the bike while the carbs are out.

Vacuum lines or de-smog.

Any plans on a cruise control or accent lights? Known leaks already mentioned.

Don't lose that rubber mat on the top of the engine.

Thanks,
I just found that leak yesterday, and thought at first it was a gasket style seal that was broken, but as you mentioned and I now know, it is an o ring and I have plenty of those haha.
I am currently working on stuff for university, so will be a little tied up but am assuming it has just rotted, haven't checked the tightness on the fasteners.

Hey,

More so what should I look at and do while the carbs are out aside from what I had mentioned and the newfound coolant leak, I will give her a look again soon enough, may want to see the physical seal rather than just try to tighten since it seems like my luck is put it all back together to only find it leaking or have another problem a day later haha.

I really would love to do some accent lights, may order some to be here next week, have to do fork seals and front wheel bearings whilst I have the forks off in the coming weeks, School is taking a heavy load right now, however, I may be guilty of spending too much time on the bike haha.

The rubber mat as in the shroud behind the radiator fan? yeah good idea lol.

I was really worried about that, have not really ridden yet with it on, was really just wanting the sight glass advantage, so if I remover that internal red filter, it should hardly limit volume.

Keep in mind, you don't have to remove that piece behind the fan in order to remove/replace the carbs. Just unbolt the two top engine hangers and pull back out of the way, the engine isn't going to move so not to worry and it gives you more than enough room to pull the carbs out past that plastic piece.

I just go done putting my carbs and airbox back in there, after replacing the fuel lines with all I could get-  3/8" nylon braid reinforced relatively thick wall automotive fuel line....man that was a biotch.    I finally got it all together with the aid of 1 x 2" wood levers applying down and forward pressure on the airbox.   I don't remember it being that hard with the original formed hoses  (which I'll use next time, if there is a next time)

If you need a piece of the tiny music wire needed to clean out that one jet, I got some.   It's .011" dia, and it's for those .012" dia. orifices Honda, or Kiehin, rather likes to use on their carbs.   Probably the smallest drill they can reliably use in production parts.
I know it's hard to get, so anybody here needs some, send me a self addressed stamped envelope, and I'll send your about 10" with a masking tape label so you won't lose it.
I got a roll of probably at least 5000'.
